Washington, DC

As much as I hate the personality of Washington, it is a great place to check out as a tourist.

--The National Zoo (they have 2 new pandas)

--The Smithsonian (and you might as well just take one day to check out all their museums)

--The Mall (which includes the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam Wall)

--The Capitol

--The White House

--Arlington National Cemetery (and have good walking shoes--lots of walking, lots of hills)

--Rock Creek Park

--Georgetown, Adams-Morgan, and K Street (the hip and happening spots in the city)

--Embassy Row (along Mass. Ave. NW)

--Bethesda (make sure to eat at BD's Mongolian Barbeque)

--College Park

--The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (one of the most beautiful churches in the world)

--U Street

--Riding Metrorail (which puts most public transit systems to shame)

--Alexandria

--Eastern Market

--Union Station

And you don't even have to go to DC to eat at one. They're a chain. I ate at the one in Naperville IL a couple of times...it rocks. Gwennie was a Mongol in SCA, so it had a special pinache for her.

And you gotta admire an oufit with the nerve to have a URL starting with "BDSM".

Yeah, I noticed that the last time I was there. I had always thought they were a local flavor (The one in Bethesda is apparently a franchise). It IS a damn fine restaurant though, among the dozens of other fine restaurants in the area.

Actually, I'm glad you posted that, Maggie. In looking at my links, I noticed that I wrote "BD's Mongolian Grill," which is incorrect. There is a restaurant called Mongolian Grill that is about 6 blocks from Mongolian BBQ. It is also a good restaurant, though not as good as the BBQ.
