Okay, I'm on my own tonight no chicas. What movie should I rent?

I'm partial to Westerns and Sci- Fi. hmmm... I do already have Serenity in the house...
glatt • Aug 4, 2006 4:00 pm
Seen Fifth Element lately?
Griff • Aug 4, 2006 4:01 pm
ooooo...not since the theatre, I think.
Ibby • Aug 4, 2006 4:02 pm
Serenety = Teh Pwn. If you like it, Try for the Firefly series that it's based on.

Today I've watched about five episodes of Pete & Pete, a couple Red Dwarfs, Half Baked, and Waynes World... So I can't really think of anything else, off the top of my head.
Flint • Aug 4, 2006 4:21 pm
(if you like to be...confused by your sci-fi)
Griff • Aug 4, 2006 4:42 pm
I like to be challenged by my sci-fi. Is this one poorly thought out, haphazardly shot, or simply tough to get a mind around?
Flint • Aug 4, 2006 4:45 pm
It's shot just fine, minimal sets required to communicate the conceptually challenging idea.

I saw the series not long ago. (really good!)
Clodfobble • Aug 4, 2006 5:02 pm
If you could somehow get the new Battlestar Galactica series from wherever you rent your movies, I'd really highly recommend the pilot movie and/or first season-and-a-half.
Griff • Aug 4, 2006 5:30 pm
I've got BG in my Netflix queue. I'm gonna be making Pete watch it. Thanks for the ideas!
footfootfoot • Aug 4, 2006 10:14 pm
Where do your movie tastes lie, griff? No chicas? To what do they object?

I like long foreign flicks.

Black Robe is awesome if you've got widescreen version.
Any Kurosawa
hell, there is a long list, but I've not got movies on the mind right now.

Throw us a frickin bone here.

I second the fifth element
fight club
Kung Fu Hustle - funny
Animal house
Harold and Maude

OOps, it's Saturday
Ibby • Aug 5, 2006 10:29 am
Oh man, Kung Fu Hustle... greatest kung-fu movie ever. It's the perfect blend of real kung-fu movie and spoof.

Have you seen Shaolin Soccer? Alot of the same cast, has the same "feel" to it as KFH, probably a previous effort by the director or producer. Try it, you'll like it.

Is that a feature length film? I saw about five minutes of it on youtube or metacafe. It was pretty funny, the parts I saw.

Alrighty then, bone thrown.
Lots of good future ideas here, thanks guys. I watched Westender and picked up The Jack Bull for tonight. Pete no like gangster flicks but I think I've seen all the good ones. I'm fried from testing today so that's all folks.

Yeah, full length. Comcast had "on demand" a few months ago, My 12 yr old and I roared.
footfootfoot • Aug 5, 2006 11:05 pm
I just added it to my queue.
footfootfoot • Aug 5, 2006 11:06 pm
Griff, Glad to see you've still got the crucial mobility.
Elspode • Aug 6, 2006 8:53 am
I've obviously missed something. Griff, WTF is up with the casted wing?
Griff • Aug 6, 2006 10:08 am
Competitive nature, bicycle, pavement, you get the picture.

Folks are not nearly as nice to me anymore either. You'd think I'd get some sympathy.

I watched it last week. :) You are correct to hype it.
Flint • Aug 8, 2006 9:20 am
Haven't seen Oldboy (yet) so the most disturbing film I've ever seen is still Audition.

I watched Mag 7 recently but haven't seen 7 Sam in quite some time. That would be a nice back to back.
dar512 • Aug 17, 2006 12:28 pm
Shoot. Go for both at the same time and watch Westworld. It's an oldie but goodie.

Gosh, the theater I saw that in is now a parking lot for a stop and shop.

Memory lane is rapidly being paved into a 4 lane highway...
