8/4/2006: Tree frog declares squatting rights

This little fella is far too proud of himself.



xoB finds these taken in Cary, NC, of the mighty tree frog taking over residence in a bird house. We don't want to consider who would win in a fight if a bluebird wants right of return.

The photog thoughtfully provided a timeline of the activity.

I can go home happy now, what a warm and fluffy Friday IotD! (Or cool, damp & wriggly, whatever)

I'd put a pink birdhouse in my back yard if I thought I'd get a little green friend like that!

Is it just me, or do all bright green animals look fresh and tasty? I often contemplate eating Aphids because of their colour....

In pic number two he looks like Mr. Burns saying, "eX-hactly..."

The Aaaamerrricannn way. Maybe color is okay too.

froggy poppers
frog in a basket
frog -n- chips
oven roasted frog
Buffalo legs

He can't stay there too long. If he doesn't have ample moisture, he'll soon die. I learned that the hard way as a child. Hard for me. Fatal for the frog. Lord forgive me.

Why, is a birdhouse drier than a tree would be?

I would think so, although I am no expert. They need moisture and I'm sure they get a lot from dew, fog, etc. As a child I tried to keep one in a small cage. He lasted about two days.
When I clean my birdhouses each Winter, they are really dry and dusty.

According to those timestamps, the little guy doesn't exactly move fast.

He is a wanderer, not the type to settle down....a heartbreaker.

FLASH!! Hot off the wires. Mr Tree Frog has not only extended his lease, he's moved in a Ho frog. :D

That should solve the moisture problem......

She moved into the established residence of a bachelor.
If she had grabbed a cab before the milkman came around, she'd have been clean.
But now, all the neighbors know, so she's a Ho.
Mr Tree Frog, in response to the neighbors, said, "Rubbit". :cool:

A man is Caskill, NY, claims this little guy has used this birdhouse as a summer residence for the last three years. :eek:
