Where you are? Is it hot there? Storms? Power outages and how you dealing with it?
We have had a heat wave here in the West Coast of the US. Last night our power went out for almost three hours. I noticed as it got dark that only a couple of people had candle or flashlight. ( so much for emergency preparedness)
Tonight, I sit here by the back door trying to will the cool air in. Although 10 degrees cooler than a couple of days ago it still lingers downstairs. I've been soaking the dog every 4 or 6 hours. He's pooped out now and asleep which isn't usual if people are awake.
so....how goes it where you are?
I are in Winter Haven FL. Lots of T-Storms, but we are built for it here, so no power outs, just surges daily. Very hot, humid and sunny when not pissing on us.

It stormed last night. This morning is dark and humid. I hate it when it rains and makes the heat worse. Threatening skies, hot, humid--makes me wish for a big ol' tornado.
I agree. I loved the storms rolling through last night; always sad to see them go.
I wouldn't mind if a tornado hit my workplace, so long as no one gets hurt. But not my house, I don't think my boyfriend and I can get into the crawl space. Besides, I would rather face a tornado than spiders!:worried:

I've got no idea. I'm in air conditioning all but 10 minutes a day, and most of the time I'm near a window, it's night. :(
Well, I live in the same place as Happy Monkey, so I'll answer for this area. Washington DC has a reputation for being humid and hot in the summer. This summer is no exception, except it's been a little cooler than normal for the last week or so. Kinda nice. Today is supposed to be a little warmer, putting us in the normal summer temps at around 90 degrees with high humidity.
Air conditioning is helpful.
Flint, I know people were being evacuated to Texas. The outpouring of compassion from Texans was a wonderful thing to see.
@ Glatt and Happy, so do most people have air conditioning? We just get along with fans mostly since heat waves don't usually last longer than two weeks.

Yes. The AC reduces the humidity as well. That makes all the difference.
All businesses and most people. I didn't when I was growing up, though, and my parents still don't.
Its a foggy, brrrrrr 4 degrees celius here.
We are in the middle 8 year drought and have had permanent water restrictions in place for over 18 months.
Middle of winter and havent had jack shit rain :(
Suddenly, it's raining really hard here. It was just like a scene in a tv sitcom--a loud crack of thunder, then a waterfall of rain right after. DucksNuts, I'd send you some if I could.

I'm at the pubic lieberry here in HOTlanta. It was 95 yesterday and probably will be so today. I spent most of the past week at Cape Lookout, NC. I will post some cool pics from my trip in the "travel" string next week.
It's 80 here with 76% humidity. Doesn't sound bad, but it is. Just went to the store for milk and I'm sweating. It feels like the weather is right on your head, pressing you down.
I'm in San Jose, CA - much better today and the last couple of days compared to last weekend. (only supposed to be 83 today) I have air conditioning upstairs - so pretty much for 2 weeks - I didn't go downstairs. At all. I finally bit the bullet and bought a room air conditioner for downstairs. Last Sunday it was 108 here at the airport and muggy as all hell.
This is the regional weather summary for today. I'm about in the middle of the map.
I'm sat on the 6th floor, looking out over Leicester and watching the breeze dance through the city. However in this office it is 26 degrees. That's how effective our aircon is - warmer in here than outside :thepain:

Two of my co-workers come from Africa - one South African & one Kenyan. This morning they were sighing over the fact that it's getting cold and we haven't even had a summer yet.
I won't be happy until it's below 20 - that's my idea of summer!
It's getting warm here. I'm in Queensland Australia. Brisbane to be exact. It's the last month of winter and the maximum's of the last few days have been around 25 degrees celcius. I'm thinking that's pretty nice compared to 4 degrees and foggy down south. :)
BTW...I can't wait for summer!

Hot and humid and just miserable.
I keep telling April that we should move to a place with less humidity, but I've compromised: we will travel to cooler places than St. Louis during the summer.
Its been beautiful down here this week, 16-18 degrees and lovely and sunny...but still cold at nite.

It has been ideal here for the last few days mid 70's to low 80's low humidity.
I'm on the front porch right now. It's warm and a bit humid, but not oppressive...tolerable.
Well, we've had a teensy little bit of a heatwave over here in the land of Blighty. Most of that was spent with people complaining abou how hot it was. Now that the weather has calmed back down to its usual grey drizzle we can all get back to normal and start complaining about how cold/wet it is:P
I am in West Yorkshire. I live in a little village called Northowram which is perched rather precariously at the top of a hill....when I first joined the cellar I lived in the hamlet of Stump Cross which is at the bottom of the hill, but have now moved.
It's a bonny part of the country. The sheep and cows have all learned to graze on near vertical slopes (effectively we are nestled in the foothills of the Pennines) There's vast amounts of very pretty countryside just lying about the place. Lovely. But very rainy.
I want to visit. My stomping grounds for a year as a youth was Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District. Those awesome rolling hills segmented up by stone fences, the land of James Herriot, I have not been for 13 years. I want to see it again.

I doubt Costello will ever lead his party (Liberal although that's just the name of the party. They're actually the moderate conservative party over here) Howard has done a pretty good job of running things and that's a lot comming from a lefty like me. ;)
The weather here today is beautiful and crisp. I'm looking forward to lunch time. Should be warm and wonderful. :)

Outside here it's just how I like it, some cloud, cool and a slight breeze. Great for walking. Inside it's far too hot of course, the usual air-conditioned 25C. Not just here either - I was in a bookshop earlier today and it was so stuffy the sweat was running down my face and dripping off my chin. I'm surprised I wasn't mobbed in that attractive state.
Anyway I love it cool and grey! My only complaints about the weather come when it's too warm. One of my best friends has a chance to work in the Arctic coming up & I am horribly jealous. He, like me, would far rather be cold than hot. Looking forward to seeing if this cures him!

Great idea! Can we add : "Salterhebble", "Mytholmroyd", "Stone Chair" and "Heckmondwyke" to the list? They're all places within a stone's throw from my village :) Whilst we're at it how about 'Hall'ith'Wood', 'Nob End' and 'Barrow Bridge', from the environs of Bolton (my old home town)
Of course we'll have difficulty finding anything to beat Knockemstiff and Lickskillet, Big Ugly and Looneyville!
