Camp Meriwether

Saturday we leave for Camp Meriwether. From the website:

The mighty Pacific Ocean provides the dramatic backdrop for this full service camp with 2 miles of private beach. The camp includes Lake Chamberlain, a fresh-water lake for swimming and boating, a trading post, a .22 rifle range, a shotgun range, an archery range, a black powder range, scoutcraft, handicraft and an ecology study center. For experienced campers, Meriwether offers high adventure hikes and a rock climbing program on our 35' tower.

More photos and stories from my own trip after next week. I'm stoked.

I got this email about the hazardous weather warning for our location for our week...

Thought I'd pass along the latest info about "Camp Meriwether's weather".

There's a hazardous weather warning posted on NOAA's website ( http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/index.php?zone=orz001&county=orc057&wfo=pqr&dgtl=1&lat=45.3155&lon=-123.9612 ). It reads as follows:

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST
OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

This dire warning aside, the weather will otherwise be outstanding: zero rain, clear skies, some wind, nighttime lows in the upper 50's. Oh yeah, daytime highs will also be in the upper 50's.

AWESOME!!!

Not to mention >4Gb pics from several digital cameras. I was the roadie who brought the laptop and part time second camera unit while the other photojournalists recorded the activities of the 38 scouts.

Here's a taste. The view from my campsite:
