Royal Flush

You go your whole life only happening on the occasional 'Royal' maybe once or twice in all, and then suddenly you bag the whole lot, more or less, in a single week!

First Liz and Phil (we locals are allowed to call them that) - caught at Ascot on the 23rd June (heavy zoom job with the new camera - source shot from which it is grabbed below the close-up)...

Next, Charley and Camilla - On their way to attend the memorial service at Thiepval on the Somme on 1st July...

Lastly Annie - also on the Somme on 1st July - this one at the Newfoundland Park ceremony where she was giving an address as Colonel-in-Chief of the Newfoundland Regiment - not so clear, but a long way back - close up followed by the original...

And there are some who say I might have royal connections myself - I'm not so sure....

Damn, I thought you had pictures of the loo at Buckingham Palace. Or even Prince Albert in the can!

Flush? Hmmm, good idea. :Flush:

The shot of Chuck and Cammie is right fine, CF. Do you often stalk the Royal Family?

Is it a law that the Royal Women must wear awful hats?
Happy Monkey • Jul 8, 2006 11:33 am
In a free society, any commoner could wear any fancy hat, to to indicate their status the royals must now wear hats that nobody else would want to wear.

Wow, I thought just the opposite! That is one COOL hat on Camilla! Splendid, even! I wish American women wore hats.

Chuck looks good, doesn't he? And, yes, CF, you two do look a bit like cousins. Maybe your mum has something to tell you? ;)

Charles is certainly going to be quite old if he ever becomes King, huh?

I often wear a hat, but I suppose a gimme cap or an urban camo boonie hat doesn't make quite the same statement.

When I was in London exactly one year ago I could have braved the crowds (200000 or more I heard) and seen the lot on the balcony at Buckingham, but me Mum and Auntie wouldn't go.

It was a military commemoration of some sort with a flyover of WW2 era planes.
We saw those from our hotel window.

What was that, Cyclefrance?

I think it was to do with the WW2 VE (Victory in Europe) and VJ (Victory in Japan) day 60th anniversary celebrations. The official commemoration day was set to fall between the two actual dates of the real events - and July was the chosen month. There was a lot going on including a concert in Hyde Park (I think) with songs from the war years, big bands (Glenn Miller sound), and speeches, as well as the fly-past over London and Buckingham Palace...

How 'bout DogFaces kissing Nurses in the street? That, too?

One can only hope!

A couple of pix from the ceremony Cf and I were discussing:

Thanks, Cyclefrance for the info!
