_____ I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her six feet under
And I can still hear her complain
I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my backyard
Oh yeah, Oo yeah, whoa, oh yeah
I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
She bitched so much, She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way, yeah
Whoa, oh yeah
I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her, Oo, six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

Rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

I don't know the association with Spanish Flea?
This is clearly too obscure a thread for you UT - two queries in as many entries - I don't know. Bad Monday?
Mine was a remote association to Sunsparkz lyrics....
...and a corruption of Hands, Knees and Boomps-a-daisy (which I supsect you got).
I thought it worth the risk of being cautioned by the moderator-in-chief. As it turned out, both I was and it was....
There is also, of course, the even more obsure association between Spanish Flea and Spanish Flu and thereby sneezing..... but maybe that's stretching it a bit....

Yeah, that's it...I was too lazy to google!
I'm curious, how do you know that lollipop song?
My brother-in-law is the drummer in that band, and I wonder how they get their following, since they don't get any radio play that I know of. They just tour a lot. Have you seen them?
You let your sister marry a drummer? Are you insane?
You let your sister marry a drummer? Are you insane?
No, and maybe.
My wife's brother is a drummer, and a painter when they aren't touring.
And I have no idea if I'm insane. How do you tell?
:::ahem::: and what exactly is the problem with drummers? (besides rushing)
The biggest problem is that, often, they're a beat off.
Glatt, if you married the sister of a drummer, you're probably alright. Plus, she's got all that exposure to the rhythm method.
Plus, she's got all that exposure to the rhythm method.
Yeah, that's great, as long as we are both focusing on the off-beat and she's not focusing on the beat itself.
My brother-in-law is the drummer in that band, and I wonder how they get their following, since they don't get any radio play that I know of. They just tour a lot. Have you seen them?
I never saw them, but we've got a copy of "Outpost" here somewhere. WVBR in Ithaca used to have a pretty eclectic playlist, I probably heard them there first. Radio Paradise has some of their tunes on their playlist but not from that album... I just checked emusic they have a bunch of their albums. Do you know which ones they are most proud of?
Cool. I figure most people who know them now have known them for a long time. Beats me what they consider their best. I've only been following them for a few years, sine my BIL joined. They had a huge turnover a few years ago, and only the lead singer is left from the original band.
The lollipop song is fun though. But I cringe and skip it if the CD is playing when the kids are around.

Squonk - Genesis
To summarize the legend of the squonk: It is a very ugly creature, and it knows this. Its skin is ill-fitting, and covered with warts and other blemishes, therefore the squonk hides from being seen, and spends much of its time weeping sorrowfully over its own ugliness. Hunters who have attempted to catch squonks have found that the creature is capable of evading capture by dissolving completely into a pool of tears and bubbles when cornered. A certain J.P. Wentling is supposed to have coaxed one into a bag, which while he was carrying it home, suddenly lightened. On inspection, he found that the bag contained only the liquid remains of the sad animal.
Walking home that night
The sack across my back, the sound of sobbing on my shoulder.
When suddenly it stopped,
I opened up the sack, all that I had
A pool of bubbles and tears - JUST A POOL OF TEARS.
All in all you are a very dying race
Placing trust upon a cruel world.
You never had the things you thought you should have had
And you'll not get them now,
And all the while in perfect time
Your tears are falling on the ground.

You got that right. An old girlfriend of mine would play the guitar and sing that song for me. Her father had been an Army officer who moved around a lot and didn't have much time for her. He died suddenly from a heart attack when she was a teenager. She identified with that song to the point where it became her personal anthem. I met her while she was going through German language training to become an interpreter while I was taking French at the military's Defense Language Institute. She was, along with several dozen other women, on her way to becoming the next "Pvt. Benjamin!" How ironic.
Between the Wierd Al parody and the Skid Row cover, I can't take that song seriously at all.

We played that in one of my bands...nice song.
My wife wanted one of my bands to learn that. Then again, she was always suggesting stuff, like we should play the entire side two of Terrapin Station. Riiight... there's almost no repeating parts in the whole thing! I guess she thought it would suit us, since we did cover Echoes, and that's like 30 minutes long. But... I don't know. I'd love to have a whole group of guys that can play Terrapin Station all the way through, but... I don't see that happening. Unless you only practiced that one album-side to the exclusion of learning anything else.

Damn, that's a stretch....
I wasn't sure whether you were referring to the song Where My Dogs At?, by Lil' Bow Wow, which references "'Snoop' Dogg"; or, if you were referring to Get at Me Dog, by DMX, which contains the lyrics "Where my dogs at?" I split the difference; but, it wasn't that much of a stretch: the lyrics for both songs contain sufficient "bow wows" (the former); or, "arf arfs" (the latter). :D
I was referring to the DMX song.
The "Damn, thats a stretch" was the "Snoopy" to "Namco Bandai" linking I did.
I can explain it, if needed.

So...association:
Baby Elephant Walk--Henry Mancini
Henry Mancini was a god, one of a very rarified strata of composers/film scorers who have left an indelible mark on music.
Michel LeGrand, while very capable, is not really even in the same league with Mancini, Goldsmith, and others who occupy the top .005% of such artists, but how awesome to have been under the tutelage of such a genius as Mancini.

I agree. I was lucky enough to see him some years ago at a dinner/concert in Dayton. When he played Moon River I got teary-eyed. When Newhart's show came on (the one in Vermont) I made everyone hush during the opening theme. What a talent that man was.
