Moderator voting thread

Undertoad • May 22, 2006 9:50 am
Please vote for no more than two people, to be Cellar moderators through the end of the year. The top two will be selected.

Again, the term of this office will be through 12/31/2006. At the end of the term, we should discuss whether the system works, whether the number of mods is right, etc. Then we should have the next election.

From the nomination thread, the job:
One would be added to the list of email addresses that get notified when someone reports a post. One would remove spam and forum abuse and things like this.

Moderators can do the following:
- Edit, move, delete posts
- Edit, move, copy, open/close threads
- Post announcements (make posts "sticky" at the top of the forum)
- Ban users

They cannot:
- See real IP addresses
- See hidden user profile information

This is not a popularity contest but a way to figure out who should have additional power for the benefit of the community. Full disclosure: although I have the ability to see who voted for whom, I won't peek, I sincerely promise.

Hopefully I did not miss any more nomination acceptances from the nomination thread...

The vote wil be open for a week. Thanks all for participating

i read this just as i was about to click on my name and thought i better not.
SteveDallas • May 22, 2006 8:21 pm
Why? Go ahead and vote for yourself if you think you're one of the top two. It wouldn't bother me.
busterb • May 22, 2006 8:32 pm
Out of 3,340 members we have a total of around 40 votes. What-ca want to bet someone crys like hell later? FUCKUM
richlevy • May 22, 2006 9:38 pm
It would be real interesting if US elections had a 'none of the above - renominate' option on the ballots;).
Kagen4o4 • May 22, 2006 10:01 pm
im as popular as (renominate)

You can't.
Kagen4o4 • May 23, 2006 1:59 am
what did you just call me?
mrnoodle • May 23, 2006 10:30 am
It's hard to pick from that list of luminaries. I'll go with either the dartboard method, or...

ooo. I know. I'll pray about it. Then the Cellar will be a theocracy.

I think God just looked at me and smirked.
skysidhe • May 23, 2006 11:05 am
BigV, Even though you are lagging behind in votes it is only because you are Unobtrusive and unannoying. I admire those qualities. You are just how I wanna be. :)
BigV • May 23, 2006 11:11 am
That's the nicest thing I've heard all day. Thank you for the fine compliment. :bows:
SteveDallas • May 23, 2006 11:43 am
I'm still unclear how the Electoral College is going to be handling things, but I guess we can deal with that after the popular vote is over.
Undertoad • May 23, 2006 11:46 am
Well it should go smoothly, I have arranged for the final vote to be counted by Diebold.
marichiko • May 23, 2006 12:20 pm
Pundits are already predicting what Bruce will say in his acceptance speech. My understanding is that he is going to crack down on illegal immigrants to the cellar.
BigV • May 23, 2006 12:39 pm
that may be bad for the ag sector...
SteveDallas • May 23, 2006 12:40 pm
Maybe so, but I heard ugly rumors of amnesty for certain ones.
Spexxvet • May 23, 2006 2:08 pm
UT, are you still going to be involved?
Undertoad • May 23, 2006 5:20 pm
I think so, but I can't seem to figure out how much.
Kagen4o4 • May 23, 2006 5:27 pm
ag are refugees not aliens. their system of government collapsed and we helped them out.

if i win (hahaha), ill make every friday "bring your attractive 18 year old daughter/sister to the cellar" day. and ill legallise icecream on wednesdays!
a vote for me is just that, a vote for me

DucksNuts • May 24, 2006 5:15 am
:D why would I want and what would I do with an 18 yr old girl???

err, seriously, you dont need to answer the "what would I do" part.

Kagen, you have to learn to cater to ALL your voters, not just the horny men ones.
SteveDallas • May 24, 2006 11:47 am
Well I know what I'd do with one.

(I'd make her babysit so Mrs. Dallas and I could go somewhere--you have no idea how hard it is to find babysitters these days.)

Brianna..... Sometimes you are just SO sexy!

Something about the way this election is shaping up is making me wish the top three candidates were being elected . . . (of course we would have to consult Robert's Rules of Order)

im not trying to fool anyone.

but ok, thursdays can be "woman on the hunt" day. we'll get strapping young lads from all over the world, strip them down to loincloths and set them loose in a forrest. the ladies of the cellar will then be given rifles loaded with a mild tranquilliser and a powerful aphrodisiac.

hows that ducks and bri?

Is %6 enough to declare a mandate?

No, 6% isnt... Didn't you listen to Bush? 35% is a mandate.

Well, it's at least better than a "women on the hunt" day with strap-on young ladies.

Darn, I just lost the southern vote with that joke.

My 8.7% will kick your mandate's ass.

The only question for me is whether I should just accept my fate gracefully, or try to commit some ghastly breach of etiquette that would result in me being stricken from the ballot completely.
Kagen4o4 • May 25, 2006 2:56 am
ahem 10.64%

I'd like to thank my Mother, Father, teachers, and Mentors.....but I can't because none of them voted for me.

OK, now listen and listen tight (hitching up pants pushed down by excess baggage), let's get one thing straight.

Snopes says it way a dolphin because one was spotted later in the day.
Poppycock, I say.
Your cat was run over by a Blue Ford because one drove down the street later in the day? Not good enough! :p

Well, I'm glad that's settled.

Apparently they are. Very efficient spam removal.

It would be a big help if anybody spots a spam post, to click on the little red & white triangle at the bottom left of the post. A window will pop up then just type spam and hit send. Actually easier than making a post calling it spam. :D

Most of us didn't even know what the red & white triangle was for. This moderator process educates the entire community.

Alarms? You get alarms? Or just an email?

It isn't like the old BBS "page the sysop" button, is it?

Not in this version of vB, no.

Or perhaps I should say, "at least UT hasn't enabled that feature at this time."
