Tampa through a dirty windshield

...or "A Quick Trip to The Airport". (28Mb Quicktime)

I'm upset I didn't get to cross the bay, but you get the idea. I love the sound of interstate overpasses zipping by at the relative speed of 280mph. :)

Sorry, zippyt -- I'm not great with video, yet. The obscene size doesn't match the short runtime. I need better codecs so that I can have it not look like total crap if I knock the quality down to make it reasonable.

no big dude , quality first , I am used to this .
Hey I just looked and its at 42% !!!

Actually, it was inspired by this guy that manages to pull off some serious asshole driver moves by squeezing between cars. Awesome soundtrack, though.

Speeding up the footage by 4x makes the maneuvers look aggressive, but all the driving I did was normal and calm.

If anyone else can do this for your city, I'd love to see! (I really wish I had done this with Atlanta!) Record your commute, drive across town, whatever. You don't really need any special camera mount, either -- I simply jammed the camera into the hole in the center of the seat's headrest. A beanbag on the dash might work just fine, too.

That was very cool. I loved the timing of the music to the video.

You're a very good driver....'cept for the fact that you appear to be on the wrong side of the road.
zippyt • May 19, 2006 7:55 pm
That would be the "Right" side of the road

I've got an old super-8 movie, up in the attic somewhere, driving home from a hippie wedding in a park to my place, looking over a huge Corvette c.a.i. hood, on Orange Sunshine.

Driving (steering & shifting) while one eye is looking through the camera ruins depth perception. Maybe that's why when I pulled into the parking space I bumped the fence. Not hard, just a tap, but the eye that was against the viewfinder hurt like hell.:o

Cool movie! I used to work on the 25th floor of 'beer can tower' ie: the round building downtown. My office overlooked the Hillsborough River and I was able to watch critters swim by now and then :) .

While the city can't really decide what to do with it, they are trying to turn that building into a museum since it is mostly vacant these days. The problem: round floors prove very difficult to full with offices that are made of of mostly square cubicals.

Downtown is such a mess.
