Brother Derek and Lawyer Ron are the favorites, but you'll see, i'm very good with horses, barbaro will beat them both ....for all you who will wager, stay away from the two favorites as they will not show, look for a longershot to place alongside barbaro.
btw barbaro has now become the favorite based upon the start he was given... brother derek got a bad start, so he has drifted ....so much for my outsider tip ;p ////i hate betting on the favorite ...i was hoping it would drift to 7/1 or sth ....anyhow, the unbeaten barbaro should win.....a larger [x3 or x4] bet on it's placing would be a wise move...either way you'll get paid ...if you only have a small amount to wager, go for the win, but if you have to spare, a much larger bet on the placing of the horse is a very wise and deffencive mode of gambling ...i may consider placing 5 or even 6 times the amount on the placing of barbaro, only because there may be a horse in th epact that takes an extra step up in this race
also, i've taken a lil action on steppenwolfer, should do well near the end, especially if it's a relativly fast pace[which it will be], but i still strongly believe thqat barbaro will be too much for the strong finisher

I've watching some of the early races on ESPN. The track looks really wet. A couple of the races were in the mud, some were on the grass in-field. I have no idea why. Maybe the crapy horses get to run in the mud.
I picked Desert Party but I think Ripley's pick, Pioneer of the Nile will win it.

My ex was over at the time of the race (see rant about DVD/DVR) and had been suckered into a drawing, where he had drawn Pioneer of the Nile. Not a bad bet. So, when the race was on, I thought he might win some money. Then, out of nowhere except the inside lane, came Mine That Bird. It was so exciting. I've been to Lexington, and it's beautiful, and I loved it that a 50-1 horse rocked it.
I keep waiting for somebody to name their horse 'Stupid Ass Name.'
The only problem, of course, is that no one would know which horse you were talking about.

Giacomo won at 50-1 a few years ago... but the/a favorite has won more often than not in the past several years (Big Brown, Barbaro, Smarty Jones etc), and they used to say the favorite never wins.

Heh. My wife had the sports section and I asked her "who won?" I though she said "Super Saber" and I was really impressed at how much of a wang name that was. We had a short painful conversation where I was explaining the whole Cellar wang name theory before she corrected me and said it was "Super Saver" not "Super Saber." A real Emily Litella moment.
