In the '80s it became fasionable to hire an on-stage sign language artist to sign the song lyrics at folk music concerts.

i would hate to hear some of these threads being read out by those talking computers. can u imagine going through the sex thread?!? or the Do you pee in the shower thread?!?! hahah

unless of course you mean blind drunk people.. in which case i have been a blind dweller on a number of occasions.

how could a blind person benefit from that RS? :)

they do that here still for the comedy festivals etc for the deaf people.
Griff • Apr 30, 2006 7:20 am
As long as one of UT's bass line brothers is in the band the deaf can feel the love as well.

It was for the hearing people to feel policitically correct. Just show.

Uncle Griff -

ive always wondered how cool that would be to go into a concert being a deaf person and just see the swarms dancing and grooving to the silence, and then to feel the bass in your chest in time with them.

At which point most deaf people realized how absolutely banal the lyrics to most songs were in the 80's when presented without the music.

I was falling in love. I saw your eyes,

I rest my case.

I mentioned in another thread that, as of vB 3.5, the registration process involves a "captcha":

Image

The system creates an image of several letters or numbers that a real human has to read and re-enter, to prove they are not automation.

The down side of this is that no blind people can register for the Cellar. Their programs can't read the captcha.

I realize that this thread was not created to ask the question, but I thought it was interesting anyway.
xoxoxoBruce • May 8, 2006 12:37 pm
Hopefully a blind person could get some help to handle that captcha. I see it used so much, they would surely have run into it before. I'd be real curious if we have any blind members or lurkers.

I've worked with some of those screen reader programs. They're basically un-usable on a site this complex anyway.

Most of the women in my life say that I am... does that count?

Pete just told me she's seen a handicap button on some sights that takes you to another registration process.
