Tobacco - Cigar, Pipe, and all else you like.

This thread is for those who enjoy partaking in the holy weed.
It is not for snobs, it is not for antis and not for (sorry) political debate, pro or con.
I know we are under attack, that is why we should have a place just to enjoy ourselves and discuss the enjoyable aspects of smoking, snuffing, dipping and chewing.

Today I had a great bowl of Larry's Blend, a wonderful full Balkan in a Savinelli 621 http://tinyurl.com/z54x7.
Later had a great Puros Indios Longsdale.
I don't smoke every day, but I had a couple of medical tests today with some waiting and it was a good pain day for me... lovely tobacco day.
With the cigar I had some Tuborg Gold. A nice compliment. I love those spicy cigars.

I don't smoke a pipe, but I once had a boyfriend who did. He used to like a Dutch blend of tobacco called Troost (sp?) - very fragrant. I enjoyed the smell of him smoking that tobacco.

When I was a child, I spent many summers at my grandparents' tobacco farm back in Kentucky. I loved August when the tobacco harvest was on. The tobacco leaves were practically as long as I was tall, and would be stripped from the plants, then the sheaves would be hung in bundles to dry in the tobacco barn. This structure was much bigger than the nearby dairy barn, and had open slats in the sides of the walls to allow the circulation of air. The loft in the tobacco barn was very high (or so it seemed to my 7 year old legs), and I would climb way up there on hot August afternoons and lay down among the straw bales and play with the kittens from the barn cat's latest litter. Sometimes, I'd just lay on the floor of the loft and peer through the gaps in the boards at the drying sheaves below. The late afternoon sunlight would make them look golden, and the smell was like no other I have experienced before or since - rich and redolent of the finest tobacco scent that you can ever possibly imagine.

I now smoke organic American Spirit cigarettes and blame my addiction on those wonderful summer afternoons so long ago. :yum:

I have spoken to the guy that grows their organic tobacco on-line, he seems like a very nice man.
Thank you for the memory, it reminds me of stories my father told me of his childhood in GA.
His earliest memory is of a ride on a mule drawn tobacco cart.

I just, recently, finished my igloodor and cannot tell you how happy I am with it... amazingly inexpensive and convenient.
Anyone else use one of these?

What plagarism? I attributed that essay early on and linked the site. :confused:

In my ongoing study of Being an Artist-Hipster (I bought an iPod recently, and proudly sport sennheiser headphones on my head or around my neck most of the day), I've taken to smoking a variety of r.o.y. tobaccos. I like Amsterdam Shag, and recently got some Danish Export (as far as I can tell, the ~only bulk brand shops in town stock get is Peter Stokkebye. The headshop has a pair of fruity, gross-tasting house blends.). At $2.25 an ounce, which lasts a week or so with sharing & wasteful rolling, I consider it one of my safer & cheaper hobbies.



(a fellow student commented the other day, when I offered a respirator as he hand-sanded bisqueware, that he smokes enough that the silica will just settle on the layer of crap that he later coughs up.)

I am not normally a fan of aromatics, with very few exceptions.
However, I did try, and still have a bit of, Pete Stokkebye's old natural Vanilla (I don't remember the number from his system, it is not made any more, regardless) and it was a wonderful smoke in one of my cobs in the shop.
When I am working in my shop on some wood I like to smoke a corn cob, but I have stems that I customize from Pipe Makers Emporium, because I hate the flimsy crap that Missouri Meerschaum puts on theirs.
Shag cut is also a very interesting smoke, though it is not for all blends, I love it on some, like Semois, when I can get my hands on some... which is a miracle here in the US.

Camel Turkish Golds, because they are often on sale, but I have at various times been a Marlboro or Winston smoker. I get a pack of Natural American Spirits every now and again, but I think they have too hard of a draw to be an enjoyable smoke.

I have also smoked tobacco in a religious context, both with a sacred pipe and with cigars, which is more traditional for the Taino circle with whom I sometimes pray.

no i don't. please inform. sounds very cool.

i'm enjoying a wonderful CAO bourbon vanilla cigar right now. that and a gourmet rootbeer (you heard me right). makes for a smashing flavor combo.

Oh, and for extra special treats ... Djarums.

(which they now carry at the convenience store that's no longer a Wawa on the way to work ... and they charge $5/pack, which is incredibly cheap)

i remeber djarums from the 70s. its been that long since i've had one.

It is an igloo with some of these for the humidicant.
They work so much better, and are so much less expensive, than the gel it is silly.
A humidistat, you can get them at most retailers for $5-10, and some cedar cigar boxes that I drilled some holes into for air flow. I use a few cedar strips between the boxes as spacers.
It is a huge humidor that costs next to nothing in comparison to what one with that capacity would cost you.
So, on my desk I just use a small, cherry wood humidor, with a small selection of what I plan to smoke/share soon and the rest are in my big Igloo under my desk.
It is fun and cool when someone wants a stick that is not in the little dor and I reach under the desk, rummage around and pop-up with it while they rubber-neck wondering what the hell kinda' set-up is under there.
Oh, I don't buy what they have. I just have a piece of Tupperware (about 5x8x5x4ish) that I drilled a crap-load of small holes into.
If you search Igloodor on Google you will find them with cedar lining and drawers and all kind of fancy modifications... nothing like mine. Just an Igloo, the beads, some cedar boxes, a humidistat and that is it. Po' Boy Big Humidor.
