Most boring: Soccer vs. Watching Paint Dry

SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 3:26 pm
I know, I know, I know what you're thinking... what COLOR paint? Right? Pick your favorite.
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 3:35 pm
(Testing to see how many of "them" are out there.)
Flint • Mar 28, 2006 3:38 pm
Will they have a sense of humour?
ferret88 • Mar 28, 2006 3:43 pm
Guess I must be one of "them." I used to play soccer. I don't mind watching soccer. I prefer it to ... oh ... say baseball. At least in a soccer match there's ALWAYS something going on (even IF there's not much scoring.) With basebleah, there's altogether too much standing around, nodding, scraatching, spitting, etc. for me.

(There. Now I've opened myself up for a verbal beating.)
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 3:46 pm
Nope, Ferret you're not one of them. Thanks for your response. I like your reasoning.

I also like your "UN-blank" spot.
ferret88 • Mar 28, 2006 3:48 pm
Steve, I'm surrounded by soccer-is-so-boring people that I expected more of the same. Glad to see I was wrong.

I prefer to watch hockey though if I have to watch sports.
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 3:50 pm
Haha! (I'm secretly baiting Europeans and Aussies that think soccer is actually called football.) Even though I'm posting this here, and making it obvious, they'll probably still yell at me. They hate the S word! ;)
ferret88 • Mar 28, 2006 3:52 pm
Oh. Them that eat biscuits and ship stuffin lorries and ride on a lift.

I see.

Why trying to bait them? Nothing better to do?
Flint • Mar 28, 2006 3:54 pm
why do anything?
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 4:00 pm
Well, it's not like I said they're stupid, I'm just dangling the word "soccer" out there to see who wants to attack. If no one, then okay, no discussion on that issue. I do think any sport that can finish 0-0 is uh... oh well, I'll be nice today. Soccer is good exercise.

hehe, just playin.

Bad Steve, bad!
dar512 • Mar 28, 2006 4:20 pm
I know it's practically un-american, but I don't watch any sports outside of the Olympics - and even that's spotty. But if you want to talk real snoozers, I think watching golf has to take the prize.
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 4:21 pm
Golf is great to watch when I need a nap.
ferret88 • Mar 28, 2006 4:26 pm
Dar - Yeah golf and basebleah rank at the bottom of the list.
Flint • Mar 28, 2006 4:27 pm
baseball: "athletes" shouldn't be fat
ferret88 • Mar 28, 2006 4:30 pm
unless they're sumo
Flint • Mar 28, 2006 4:35 pm
right, the sumo/baseball guys are okay
SteveBsjb • Mar 28, 2006 10:05 pm
hahaha
Elspode • Mar 28, 2006 11:14 pm
Watching you guys jerk each other off is more boring than any other sport that I can imagine. Sheesh.

well its not much of a secret now is it?

also you must not know any aussies because we also have our own country's version of football

american football is gridiron

aussie football is...Australian rules football

european football is soccer

and because soccer has been around a lot longer than panzy armour wearing gridiron and is a WORLDWIDE sport. it has the honour of being called football worldwide.

im not a fan of soccer but i do understand the rules to a degree, and when your country/team is playing, it can be very good to watch.

my point is. check history before you start claiming your young sport is better than a thousand or so year old one.

Still waiting for sophias first Panathonaikos thread.

::: checked history :::

My sport is better than a thousand or so year old one.

Hiya rtexanssane (don't expect me to type that all out from now on, almost hurt myself). Sophia's here?
Maui Nick • Mar 29, 2006 11:26 am
Um, Steve ...

There's a separate sports forum.
SteveBsjb • Mar 29, 2006 11:53 am
But is there a paint drying forum?

:)
Happy Monkey • Mar 29, 2006 12:28 pm
Yes, it's the sports forum.

Well it's obvious which side of the pond you are on...Rules just a wee bit too hard for you to understand...Socc ahem!! football is a fantastic game when it's played correctly and I've seen many games that were nil nil and were a fantastic advert for the game..maybe you better stick with the girly game rounders oops sorry what do you lot call It ( Baseball). :D
marichiko • Mar 29, 2006 5:19 pm
If I am going to watch a sport, I watch it live, and the only live sport that doesn't put me to sleep faster than watching lavender paint dry is hockey.

Go, Avalanche! And you can take sports that have anything to do with a ball of any sort and ... Well, the insinuation should be obvious. ;)
Kagen4o4 • Mar 29, 2006 5:34 pm
lawn bowls....
SteveBsjb • Mar 29, 2006 5:40 pm
Be-bop... I love when the rounders argument comes up. I never really know how to debate that one. :)

JayMcGee • Apr 7, 2006 7:39 pm
I thought it was funny, ade.

There is one.
DucksNuts • Apr 8, 2006 1:26 am
Blerg ....its Cricket for me, boring as bat shit.

I often argue with my pommie friends about the ole Football v's Soccer.

Why shouldn't Soccer get the title of Football when it is the sport that is the 90+% foot to ball sport??

US Football and Rugby should hardly be called Football when they are more ball passing than footing.

AFL....league of its own, aerial ping-pong is its nick name isnt it? Still, it has more right to claim the name Football than Gridiron or Rugby. :)
TiddyBaby • Apr 8, 2006 3:08 am
I wouldn't mind watching a rugby game live.

One Texas guy, Ken< referred to soccor as "Riverdance on a field of green"

My fav paint color is the white stuff, I think its called Mold-ese or something, (fights or retards mold)
Elspode • Apr 8, 2006 3:13 am
Strange how no one has mentioned that old favorite, golf...or as I like to call it, "flog", which not only is golf spelled backward, but a very apt description of the way I play the game.
lookout123 • Apr 8, 2006 3:18 am
els - i've got mad love for you fool, so please quit encouraging the asshat gallery.

That post isn't helping either. What size hat do YOU wear?
TiddyBaby • Apr 10, 2006 3:02 pm
@ at Steevee the evil one. Is a hat ass the same as a butt plug?

(in the words of Smeegles "... don't mess with the ring"
