I wish I could find another part of that episode, the show ending (that was often hacked off in syndication) where Barney explains to Andy how easy it is to remember dates.

Something like this:

"Take 1776, for example. The first number, one, is easy to remember 'cause it's the first number in the alphabet. Then you got lucky number 7. Then you got 7 again, which is easy because you just remembered 7. Last, there's 6. 7 minus 1 is 6. 1776!"

Andy replies "wouldn't it be easier to just remember 1776?"

Barney gets snappy "well if you want to do everything the easy way you'll never learn anything!"

This is dated now, but at the time Jo's deadpan delivery really wowed me in the late 80s.

Poor chap.
Funny though.

Have I Got News For You - Christmas Special
Long clip but quite quickfire wit.
Not the funniest it's ever been (it can make me cry) but a decent introdution.
Of course the really amusing thing is that the guest host - Boris Johnson - could potentially become our Mayor on May 1st. I am not voting for him, give me Red Ken any day.

For the record, the short fat, balding, smug man on the far left is Ian Hislop - editor of Private Eye (satirical UK magazine) and pretty much my ideal man. And yes, I would.
