CELEBRITY DEATH POOL 2009!!!

I was thinking that this year, as a way of raising money for the tip jar, and to have a bit of fun, we should all kick on some money for the celebrity death pool. Not a lot. Let's say $20.

I believe Lumberjim would be a good choice to hold the money, or even UT himself.

If we each kick in say $20 for the prize and half of it goes to the winner, with the other half going to the cellar. It would be kind of fun.

Please let me know if you're interested.

The rules would be as follows:

1. All players pick 10 celebrities they believe will die within the year 2009.

2. A celebrity is someone whose name is immediately recognized so if the person is a drummer in a band none of us have heard of, it doesn't count and neither does "uncle joe" unless your uncle Joe is Joe Lieberman or something like that. If there are questions on the celebrity status of a user's choice, a vote of all players will decide whether the person is really a celebrity. A tie goes to the runner....or in this case the player.

3. If someone on your list dies, you subtract their age from 100 and this is the number of points you get for that person's death.

4. Half of all prize money will go to the Cellar tip jar, and the other half will go to the winner. If there is a tie, half will go to the cellar tip jar, and the other half will be divided amongst the players who won.

5. All money must be paid and picks must be made no later than January 1, 2009 at midnight in Hawaii. This makes the game fair so people don't start joining the game when they find out a celebrity has a terminal illness or something.

6. Picking people who are on death row does not count.

What do you guys think? Do you want to make this game a bit more interesting?

That's fine. You can make picks but not win money. I was just trying to come up with a way to make the game more fun, and to have a cool fund raiser for the Cellar.

Why don't "some people" just donate monthly, instead?

Where's the fun in that? Besides it's the most I'm personally willing to do. I might be willing to do more if he weren't grossly overspending for his bandwidth. I don't want to contribute to wasteful spending. It reminds me of paying taxes.

I thought it was a nice idea, Radar...regardless of the fact that it became a source of bitching.

'Member this?

True of anything, in my opinion. God some people are attention whores, or else money is a penis or sex substitute...not sure which.

I'm great. Look at me. Look at me. I'm wonderful.

Anyhoo...I will think about my list tonight...sounds like fun. It'd be easy to stick into a spreadsheet, if you're keeping track Radar. So, no money, but has a winner ever been decided in the past?

I don't get the whole idea of this death pool thing. It's really rather morbid to me. I don't like it. That's probably why I've never participated.

I thought the fundraising idea wasn't bad though although I would have suggested a lower amount. The SS limit was only $15 ffs. lol

UT...don't get upset about Radar being a dick. You know he's always going to say something that resembles nice and then slam you when you least expect it (which is usually about one sentance later). It's just the kind of weirdo he is.

Heehee...great last paragraph, Ali!

You know, it is kind of morbid. What if I made a list, and every single one of them died, in order even? I'd be like the "wishing into the cornfield" kid.

It'd be 'The Secret' at work. lol

Just don't do it!!!

That's all I'm saying.

eta: Unless there's someone you really do want to die.

Now that really is all I'm saying.

Nope, that's another lie. You all know I'm not going to shut up no matter how much you wish I would.

Eeek...there are some people I seriously don't like, but I don't wish even, say...Adam Sandler, dead.

Now if he's dead tomorrow...
