2/22/2003: Silly pro-war demonstration

The official caption says this is part of a pro-war demonstration in Denver and that these Coloradans are marching on the capitol. Which tells me one thing: both pro- and anti-war marchers have an equal capacity for nonsense.

I think historical recreation is interesting if it tells us something about history; it reminds us what conditions were like and such. And this is kinda interesting if it gives us a fresh look at what US soldiers looked like all along.

But as a pro-war demonstration, it's kinda dumb; all it does is remind us that we have a military tradition. If anything, this image says "let's go to war, because that's what we always do!"

I wonder what hoops they jumped through to be able to tote their rifles? Of course we are talking Co. not NY here.

Funny how the definitive 'Evolution' image goes with:

Personally I think we're going the wrong way.

Notice their 'rifles' get shorter as the years go by?

Minutemen, indeed!

1. Hopefully, it takes more than a minute.

2. It's not the size of the rifle, it's the skill with which it is aimed.

That to me is actually a pretty decent pro-test. The only problem being the 256 or so incursions not represented. Anyone notice we've misplaced 3 "civilian contractors" er CIA dudes in Colombia. Griff who should know better than to post with six fingers o' Black Bush in his belly

No, French & Indian was before the Rev. War.

Therefore, I think it's

*Revolutionary War
*War of 1812
*Mexican War
*Civil War
*WW1
*WW2
*The Korean War
*Vietnam
*Gulf War

....which still skips the Spanish-Amer war.

Too bad you're out in the midwest, Cam...and too bad James is in Colorado. If you guys were closer to the East Coast, the two of you and Griff and I could all get together, drink senselessly, and create one big thread of obnoxiousness.

[cornered] Oh how easily we mock that which we are not intellectually or emotionally prepared to understand. Why do our artful lives frighten you so?[/madman]
