LOVE

Quote:
Today's coffee culture has an incredibly sophisticated vocabulary. Do you want a cappuccino, an espresso, a skinny latte, or maybe an iced caramel macchiato?

The ancient Greeks were just as sophisticated in the way they talked about love, recognizing six different varieties. They would have been shocked by our crudeness in using a single word both to whisper "l love you" over a candlelit meal and to casually sign an email "lots of love."
Eros, Philia, Ludus, Agape, Pragma, and Philautia. If everyone knew these words, and their meaning, we could avoid a lot of misunderstandings and butt hurts.

Fascinating! I knew about Eros, Philia, and Agape, but never heard of the other three.

Would they have been horrified, though, or impressed with our efficiency?

Some would have been horrified at our inability to communicate clearly. The other 99% would have just said, yes boss.

That's an illusion, created by Wall Street PR firms, to make the 1% look better.

If you create user friendly symbolism for Eros, Philia, Ludus, Agape [A], Pragma, and Philautia that lives up to your username (xoxoxo...), it could go viral. Did ya ever think of that, huh, did ya, did ya, did ya ever think of that?

xA (man hug),

(otherwise we'll just have to rely on context)
