Cleaning LED or Plasma screen

How do you guys clean your computer screen?

There are so many conflicting reports on exactly what liquid to use or not use like: isopropyl alcohol, vinegar, water ect.

ONCE I used a damp cloth with 50/50 alcohol and water but I was not feeling good about it and I think it smeared a little.

I hope some of you have a tried and true method.

thanks

I use: 1 part of whatever cleaning solution you want, be it alcohol, windex, whatevs, I use windex, and 5 or 6 parts distilled water, NOT tap water (prevents smearing/streaking).

I think the most important part of cleaning an LCD screen is NOT using paper towels or rough rags, which scratch up the screen. Don't use tissue paper, I think that stuff has lotion type stuff that smears up the screen.

Use that soft blue microfiber stuff or those camera lens cleaners or a really soft piece of cotton. Don't spray the cleaner directly on the screen either or you could get liquid where you don't want it. Spray it on the cloth.

I think the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen one of my friends do was use toothpaste to clean their screen. Needless to say, he was unsuccessful.

There! A nice lengthy post on screen cleaning. May it never be forgotten.

The instructions with my monitor said alcohol is ok but never use any ammonia.

Thanks Apollo and Bruce.

and toothpaste! I wonder how he though that was going to work. lol

I see distilled water alot and that is part of the equation I think I am missing.

Instructions? what instructions... I don't know no instructions.

well, I guess I should have saved my instructions.

Who makes your monitor, Sky, and what model? The instructions are likely on-line.

oh good idea. Why didn't I think of that. I have found other users manuals online.

I have a very cheap Hannspree with a very beautiful clear screen which I like 100xs better than the very expensive flat screen I bought years ago for the xp which only looked good from across the room. * rant * I was so glad when it burnt out.

50/50 IPA (1,1 Histology grade) and Distilled/RO water, and a microfiber cloth as the wipe.
