Lots of fish!

Just got home to Texas after a visit to Seattle and am in the process of putting up all the fish I got at Pike's Market. It's just so hard to pass up the opportunity to bring home super fresh fish even if I have to parcel it down into smaller portions and freeze it.

This time I got:
2 whole king salmon, about 9 lbs ( fillet myself and use bones for stock)
2 lbs halibut cheeks
2lbs halibut fillets
3 lbs black cod (aka sable fish)
6 lbs chum salmon (mostly I use these for salmon cakes)
2 pints Taylor Shellfish Farms small oysters

Looks like fish is on the menu for a few months!

We have fish cookouts occasionally. We discovered it was easier to order hushpuppies, for us, from Captain D's (rather than make 'em our ownselves). Only don't order them over the phone, order them in person, so you can see the teenager at the register's face when you say "I'd like 300 hushpuppies to go, please."

all this without a hello.

Pike Place Market does indeed have some seriously fresh fish, true. But they're not the only place to get super fresh fish, I could show you (or any other dwellars) other places to get some nice fish. I've even bought it straight off the boat at Fisherman's Terminal--now that's a short chain, ocean, boat, grill, mouth. Delicious.

I look forward to your recipes.

@Gravdigr--I would be tempted to do that, but I'd need some more friends to pitch in to help eat them. Maybe the next time the troop takes the bus to the drive-through.
