August 31, 2011 Cenote

Look for the teeny, tiny diver way at the bottom of the image.

This is a cenote, or freshwater sinkhole, on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

How did she get in? Are those tree roots or stalactites hanging down?

There must be a cave entrance because I have seen other pictures of the same cenote with several people in view, plus the photographer.

I didn't see any info about the stuff hanging down. My first reaction was that they are stalagtites, but I can't find where I might have read that.

It looks like spaghetti what fell through a hole in the colander.

It needs a hole defender.
