One-Topic Ponies

Who here are one-trick ponies, so to speak? Like, so many of my posts are gender- and/or queerness-related, so many of maggies are about guns, so many of UGs are about how left-wingers are idiots and commies, so many of tw's are just plain long...

I'm not one to dump C/Ps of lyrics, but this one I can't resist. I've been watching a Paul simon live DVD (from 1980) where he does this tune with Steve Gadd, Tony Levin, Richard Tee, and Eric Gale (all dudes from the band "Stuff" if that means anything to anybody)...anyway:

He's a one trick pony
One trick is all that horse can do
he does one trick only
It's the principal source of his revenue
And when he steps into the spotlight
You can feel the heat of his heart
Come rising through

See how he dances
See how he loops from side to side
See how he prances
The way his hooves just seem to glide
He's just a one trick pony (that's all he is)
But he turns that trick with pride

He looks so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like God's
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day

One-trick pony

With acquaintances I usually talk about food, to my friends I talk about anything, in the cellar, love and sex and loneliness.

Some people only bother to post what they're passionate about. Content to just lurk on things that, while they may have an opinion, feel it doesn't matter much.
That also avoids feeling obligated to defend a position they aren't very sure of/don't feel strongly about. Especially if they are going to be called an idiot, communist, traitor, childish, unpatriotic.... you know the rest.

I feel called on to respond to sillyness about firearms mostly because it happens a lot, and I'm an activist on the issue; this place has become such a liberal pit since it went web-based.

I have written a lot about gender and queer issues here in the past...and even more so back before it became a web site. I also write about aviation and astronautics and amateur radio when appropriate.

I don't write much about gender issues anymore because I finally *did* something about them. Maybe you will too, and become more well-rounded as a result. :-)

Nah I'm not bashin' ya on the gun-talk or anything, mags, its just, since I got here (which admittedly hasnt been that long), i'd say more than 50% of your posts (maybe even 70% or 75%) have been about guns, and politically speaking, guns are #1 on your list of priorities.

UG, on the other hand... I am bashing.

Did someone say they're throwing a bash? Count me in! I'm just here for the entertainment and I'm riding that pony into the ground.

What I find funny is going back in the archives and seeing newbies post enthusiastically on photo threads or What Does Your Username Mean threads... and then never posting again.

I heard this thought express like this:

I admit that lately I've been trying to get the lovely Cellar ladies to post naked or partially clothed pictures. I guess my "one trick" hasn't tricked anybody.

Oh, yes it has. I urge you to review. The only place to go next would be spread-eagle shots. Go ahead and ask!

That would be tasteless! Please post any spread-shots of lovely cellarite ladies. It doesn't have to be of yourself. Guys, you are definitely uninvited to post spread-eagle shots.

I forgot that I started the picture yourself NSFW thread.

As a proud Cellarite who actually appreciates the somewhat tasteful nature of the place (well, where it concerns the members, anyway), I would much prefer that any actual filthy photos not be posted here at all.

Instead, I propose that they simply be sent directly to me at my private email address...

Don't believe in "filth", and I think that is true of many of us.
Though I agree about the private e-mail... but you are very selfish & should be punished.

The term was used here to simply mean anything that isn't appropriate for The Cellar by dint of it being too personal and not in keeping with the general safe tone of this place.

I don't believe in filth either. I do believe in things that other people might term as filth being sent directly to me so that I can take my time and evaluate its cultural and erotic potential, though.
