quuuaaaake

So last night around 10:45 p.m. I was at my computer looking at porn, when suddenly the calendar on my wall began swaying back and forth, initially a slight waver, but quickly growing more pronounced. At first I thought it was just a strong breeze through the window, but that was simply impossible, based on the calendar's position. Then I started feeling unsteady, like that wobbly, nauseating sensation of stepping off a boat after a lengthy trip. I thought the three bottles of beer I had just drank were about to make a return trip to the outside world.

Then the news arrived via the P.A. system - i.e., my aunt's incredibly loud horn - it was an earthquake!

Reports said it was a 5.9 magnitude, epicentered about 100 miles southeast of Taipei. That doesn't sound very big to me, but the 1999 quake that killed 2,400 and destroyed 50,000 buildings was a 7.6, reports say.

I've never been in an earthquake before! Kinda neat, although living on the 13th floor of a high-rise building made it slightly nerve-wracking.

Anyway, that is all. Carry on.

Yeah, I definitely felt it too, and its not the first time. Supposedly in Taipei is was the equivalent of a 2, but that was obviously enough to shake my building pretty bad. I was laying on my bed (cause thats where my computer is) and I felt like I was rocking back in forth, then I realized I wasnt doing it. Then I heard my sister screaming, and.. that was about it. Nothing broke, just a bit of shakin'.

If you lived with them surrounding you, Ibram, you'd be even MORE creeped out.

I've been thinking about starting a thread on them. Maybe I will.

Yeah Jay, I know. I live in Clearwater (where their headquarters are) and every other person I run in to is one..including my landlord, my son's best friend/his family, and 90% of the people in my little neighborhood. It can be very dangerous to speak out about them which is one reason I've not started that thread....yet.

If some anonymous 'troll' shows up and starts it however, be gentle with her...she's probably a little nervous of being involved in a 'hit and run' automobile accident or having the IRS sic'd on her or maybe even being sued.
