Serious Technical Question Re: WoW

Serious Technical Question Re: WoW

I am rebuilding my computer, re-installing XP from disc.

Is there any unique data in Program Files, or Documents and Settings\Application Data, or anywhere else (local to this machine) that is required in order to preserve Pooka's WarCraft data? -OR- Once the application is re-loaded on a fresh build, will it all pull down from the servers?

Okay, so I'll save a copy of C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft

Is there anything saved in the user's profile or anywhere else besides C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft ???

Thanks for your help, --Flint

My data is saved in C:\users\public\games\worldofwarcraft\wtf

Really, the only things that aren't saved server side are the key bindings, UI setup, add-on's and macro/hotkeys. All of that is in the wtf folder.

Keep in mind that the wtf folder isn't always in with the program installed files and that sometimes, there is a dummy folder in the program folder, but it doesn't contain your character settings.

On some computers, the proper folder is found:

C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF

Make sure you have "show hidden files" set on your computer, in order to find it.

Ah, thanks. Found this:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment

Don't see any other WTF folder,
but in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account, I do see folders for every character, with "AddOns" and "SavedVariables" etc.

I've done this many times, the only thing you will have to reload or re-download and install are any add ons. Everything else is on the server.

Oh, and curse is a great place to use to manage your add ons.
