Dec 10, 2013: Gabriel Dawe's colored thread installations

Contemporary art site Hi-Fructose points out the "The Rainbow Thread Installations of Gabriel Dawe". The artist's site is here.

The artist has a lofty artist's statement: "Gabriel Dawe creates site-specific installations that explore the connection between fashion and architecture, and how they relate to the human need for shelter in all its shapes and forms. His work is centered in the exploration of textiles, aiming to examine the complicated construction of gender and identity in his native Mexico and attempting to subvert the notions of masculinity and machismo prevalent in the present day."

I don't know about all that. I only know his site-specific installations are really cool.

Moire patterns. Additionally, the central bar looks to be where the threads are twisted around each other. But it could just be another Moire. They're also visible in pic 1, going in several directions.

I believe you're right, but the threads do not need to be twisted for the effect.

Here is a neat little animation showing the effect
