Name this ugly dog

Am going to adopt this critter tomorrow. Stella --Female--Blue Heeler Mix
--Born on February 9, 2005--Surrendered on April 6, 2005
--Up to date on shots-- and spayed. I'm not fond of Stella. So how about you Dwellers give it a go. If she doesn't keep the hard shelled possums out of my yard, she won't be here long.

If she knows her name, you could pick something close enough that she still recognizes it. Such as "Bella". "Killa". Or "Mellow".

(No, not Mellow, a heeler puppy will be the opposite)

WHY are you adopting a dog that you don't even like????? What a horrible time this poor creature is going to have with you if that's the way you feel. Please take her back to the shelter and do both of you a favor. There are many thousands of dogs in the Humane Society of Louisiana's shelters right now, desperate for owners, and you are bound to find something more suited to you there.

She's going to live in the yard? Why are you bothering to get a pet?
It's not fair to the dog to get her as a functional item to kill possums.
They're supposed to be companion animals, part of the pack. What a miserable, lonely life she'll lead.

How about naming her "sorry"?

I think he meant he doesn't like the name Stella.

I think, but can't be sure, that buster meant he didn't like the name Stella, but he still likes the dog (although he thinks she is ugly). Am I right?

edit: I am too slow... Brett's Honey beat me to it.

That doesn't sound to me like Busterb has any emotional interest in this "critter". I hope I'm wrong that a lot of screaming and kicks will come this pup's way if she "doesn't measure up", because I'm from the South and generally Southerners are good to their dogs and I'd like to think Busterb is the same. But if you want to discuss an animal from a purely functional sense, a Heeler is not the right dog to keep wildlife off your property. They herd by nipping the back legs of livestock, etc., and they are known to be a "mean" breed which can turn on the master or refuse discipline. He should look for a Hound breed instead, they will chase anything that moves and romp on it. But I suspect that either way, Busterb will be back on this board saying the dog has to go because it barks all night while keeping wildlife out of the yard, doing what dogs do naturally. Consider some nice quiet traps instead

I have forgot more about dogs that a few of you will ever know. I have an inside one that I raised from a pup about 10 + years ago. I need a yard dog, My Golden died last year.which will have 125 ft of overhead cable to run on. A dog house and a low shed for shade. Yesterday I got my dog a new basketball, she chases it over the yard and after 6 years, the old one was shot.
All I asked for was a name, not this other BS. I don't have a small yard and my dogs are free to run it. The new dog will go on wire till I have time to work w/it.
I paid 50 bucks for dog and I don't like the name. Nuf said.

Give her formal name as Roberta and, in the fine southern tradition, call her Bobbie! Bobbie Joe! Or, Billie Jean! Or, Sally. She sorta looks like a Sally.
