Toronto is AMAZING. I love it. I'd vote for there.

beautiful, clean, friendy, tons to do - and did I mention friendly? I like friendly places. went to Virginia Beach and though nice place the people were horrid, mean, douche-bags; as far as jobs go...I dunno. google some toronto web cams...get a feel for it.

from wiki:

Because of the city's low crime rates, clean environment, high standard of living, and friendlier attitudes to diversity, Toronto is consistently rated as one of the world's most livable cities by the Economist Intelligence Unit[14] and the Mercer Quality of Living Survey.[15]

Toronto was very congested when I was there a couple years ago, and I didn't really enjoy it. But it was Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, so maybe it isn't always like that. And if you are getting around on foot, I bet it would be different.

I was in Vancouver many years ago and absolutely loved it.

The Canadian Rockies are spectacular too. If I was young and had a summer to kill, that's where I would try to spend my time. I don't know how easy it is to get a summer job in a resort in Banff, but that would be my angle.

A woman I used to work with, whose dad is straight from Ireland, is from Montreal.

I would love Montreal. But I like frenchies.

It's an awesome town, but they're bitchy in Montreal unless you speak the language correctly.

I can say Mon-rey-al, and Je voudrais une biere, s'il vous plait.

I'm used to bitchy, anyway.

I took two years of French in HS and two quarters in college. My college prof said I should speak up in class more because I had a good grasp of pronunciation. I would have to take a crash course in actual words, though.

Okay. It's me again. Why do I always have to be the baddie?
Oh, because I'm some sort of Nazi, gotcha.

Muffin? Any chance you could type full words please?
Capitals are optional (not in my book, but I have been advised so).

To answer the question - I'd definitely go to America instead. But then that's probably biased by my 4 years on this board! For me there's more to see, at least more that I have read about (away from here) and seen in films and on TV.

There are some states with a legal age of 18... I think!
Canada, can't help you with, sorry.

If you're looking to escape the rain, the Pacific Northwest is probably not the best vacation climate. As far as drinking underage in the US, there's plenty of underage drinkers here, not hard to get away with in a private, closed environment like an of-age friend's house. Also take a look at this: There is not a hard 21 or nothing rule in America, conditions and exceptions vary by stateIf I were you, I would hook up with someone you already know in America and go from there.

The Eastern Maritime is not much better for the pure weather factor.

And if you were here now you would have no problem with "summer rain". Frankly, I don't believe such a thing exists.
