Relenza
Hi!
I was just wondering if you members could give me a short account over RELENZA or just refer me to any informatory site where I could be able to find out a detailed info over the subject. I am suffering with flu (by influenza virus). Doctor has suggested me to take Relenza. I was scared of the side effects that it may show as I am little concerned about this medicine and its medication also. Please help ___________ Nicks |

Haven't seen anyone on it myself. :shrugs:
Side effects profile listed on the FDA's site doesn't look too bad. Unless you have asthma, COPD, or other chronic respiratory issues. Near as I can tell from the prescribing information, it treats the symptoms, but not necessarily the disease. If you've had flu symptoms for more than two days, the prescribing info says not to bother taking it. The insert also says that you experience one fewer day's worth of symptoms over placebo if you take this stuff. Let's see ... risk of seizure and or bronchospasm vs. feeling miserable for 24 additional hours ...

I wouldn't mind having some around just in case the Bird Flu hits. Maybe it won't help much, but then again...maybe it will.
In either case, I don't think I want to be in the placebo group, you know?

People in the placebo group die of natural causes.

Isn't influenza a natural cause?

Yes, it is. However, people in the study group can die because of the medication under investigation. That's where I was going with the comment, but perhaps was a bit too subtle.
Think Vioxx, Celebrex, Thalidomide, etc.
