Joe is Going to Retire

Guys,

I am officially retiring. 25 years is a long time, and I'm surprised that it's come this soon. But, alas, it is time to go on many levels.

I'm throwing this out here because ya'll have been a part of my life for the past 8 years. A lot has happened, on here and in my own life.

My current plans are to use up that post 9/11 GI Bill ya'll have paid for with your hard earned tax dollars, and study physics starting at Eastern Washington University. Thank you for paying your taxes!

Doesn't mean I'm retiring from the Cellar, I'll still be lurking around.

Physics! Cool.

Do you have a plan for what you'll do with that, or is it just because physics is the coolest science?

Well, not only because Physics is the coolest. I was too immature when I was young, then I grew up....got married...got into something I made a commitment to as a career....but I've always wanted to study physics. I totally want to do research and work in academia.

And now that I've got a retirement stipend, a 3.76 Grade point average for my AA degree, a little disability and lots of time; I can pursue something that has always seemed a bit out of reach for a regular joe like myself.

That's exciting. Seriously. Opening a new chapter in your life.

I hope the disability bit is minor. The rest sounds great.

Hey, congratulations Joe. Your smart to jump right into it because when somebody retires they're likely to think, no hurry I've got all the time in the world now. But time flies, baby, flies. Not to mention school is much cheaper than a mistress.

Since you're going to be a physics guru, here's a map to find your way.

Congratulations and best of luck. Are you participating as honoree in a retirement parade?

I'm fascinated by major mid-life shifts. Do keep visiting and let us know how it's going, Joe.

There will be a ceremony at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. Cause I'm a relic.
