Thanks for the advice folks...I'm thinking about all of it, and will let you know what I decide.

And no, there was no four step path - just a kick out the door - and I can't see that what I was accused of was any violation of a policy OR an open door to sue the company. That's the part that seriously cheeses my goat.

Anyone who knows me personally knows where I work - and they've been all over the front pages of the papers locally, as well as nationally for the past few years....

I just didn't get a 39Mil golden handshake like other folks who get fired.

Let the employment attorney you talk to figure that one out. Don't guess.

Sorry to hear that this happened. There's never a good time for it, but now is particularly rough.

Don't think about it long because it's natural to start rationalizing to make sense of it. That just clouds the truth. Go after them, even if you have another offer.

Hitting the Ground Running

Two interviews this morning - one on the phone, one face to face - a followup on the F2F one tomorrow afternoon at the company they want to place me at. (yeah me!) I'm hoping that the phone interview fleshes out to a F2F one as well - because that job I don't just want - I LUST for it.

Spoke with my cousin - who is an attorney - who said he is confident that there is something there - to put everything on paper and send it to him - he'll give it to the employment attorney in his firm - who is fondly called "Shark".

(Sounds good to me!)

I think I found the open window.

1) Get a new job.
2) Sue the bastids.
3) Use the lawsuit proceeds to take a nice vacation.

A vacation? After just starting a new job? I don't think so!

She should bank any proceeds from a lawsuit against the day she needs a windfall, such as a major car problem or housing crisis or some such. That's MY two cents...the check is in the mail!

I don't want money.

I want my name cleared. And I want that individual who orchestrated this disaster to not be employed. For a very VERY long time.

The money would be nice - but revenge is MUCH sweeter.

if this is pursued the $$$$ amounts are much larger than you are thinking here. but since it is money she wasn't counting on for everyday life, the smartest thing to do would be to invest it for the retirement years.

but more important that money will be her work record. at this point she has to answer a big YES when asked if she was ever terminated from a job due to performance issues. under no circumstances can you say in an interview "i was let go to retaliate for my filing a complaint" BZZZZ interview over.

Actually, one good thing regarding the company I was working for until recently is that they are a "Neutral Reference company"...which means they will not indicate WHY I no longer work for them - only that I don't.

So, that can work to my benefit.

First Interview today - I told the woman - I'm working with HR to determine exactly why I was separated.

Second Interview - I told the gentleman - (The cliffs notes version of above) - with the addenda that "I am waiting for a final statement from HR for a definitive reason for my separation".

Both still look promising, and I haven't lied or hidden a thing.

(Edited to correct stupid spelling error and to add the notes about today's interviews).
