Wanted

Need someone who knows computers here in Philadelphia to install a new motherboard battery in my computer. Not to mention, where can I buy one?

Name the price...

(DISCLAIMER: Sycamore is computer-impaired. The folks on this newsgroup give him a computer IQ of around 9 or so. On the IQ scale, that would make him profoundly retarded. Thank you. )

Post mobo model (if you know; ex: Iwill KK266) and I'll show you the pic with battery location.

Otherwise.. why do you need it replaced? you've noticed that your system clock has gone haywire? Open up your box.. look at mobo.. spot the shiny circle

It's usually supported by a push-down thingie.. and one a part of the bed, that the battery's in, there should have a depressed area.. use it....

Take out the offending part.. run down to your local Radio Shack.. they'll (hopefully) give you a compatable replacement.

You could also read mobo's manual about specs for the system battery.. or seach for info on battery's info.. it'll tell you the needed specs.

Thanks for the help Serge. It's an AOpen motherboard, although I'd have to check for the exact model. About a month or so ago, my clock quit keeping time when I shut it off at night. I'm very leery about doing anything to my computer b/c I admittedly know very little about its inner workings. The only thing I've had to replace on it in 4 years is the modem, which a friend of mine in DC did in exchange for a large pizza from Pizza Boli's.

After I find a new job, I'm seriously considering buying a new PC. The one I have is now almost 4 years old, with a 200 P-1, Win95, and a 2.1 GB HD that is running out of space. I could probably upgrade it, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

So probably one of these.

The procedure is simple enough (give mobo model.. I'll help you with battery spec), you basically won't touch anything.. simply, physically replace a battery. (You could alway go to old one)

Manual doesn't either doesn't show or it's one of the two outlined boxes below.

It's real simple - look in the manual or on the website for the type of battery it takes - however they measure those batteries. Then, buy one of those. Pull the plug on the power supply, look for the battery (flat, like a watch battery). Pop it out, slide new one in. Even the profoundly retarded can do this. I promise.
