Geo's work, because of the extreme cold and wind they don't get deep snow in Nome. Further south where it's warmer and wetter they get feets and feets of it.

My wife is allergic to the sun. She breaks out in hives if she's outside longer than ten minutes. Apparently, it's a fairly common condition.

Does that mean she is susceptible to rickets? Or does she have to drink extra milk or something?
(Juju, buddy, that's not common. Is she on any meds that have a sensitivity to sunlight as a side effect)

No, she's not on any medication. I don't mean that it's common as in everyone has it. I just mean that it's not really, really rare. In fact, I also have a co-worker with the same condition!
What are rickets? In any case, here's an interesting link about it. Last edited by juju; 08-03-2003 at 03:09 PM. |

This whole thread makes me think of the LC poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter" --
"The sun was shining on the sea, Shining with all its might: He did his best to make The billows smooth and bright- And this was odd, because it was The middle of the night." mmmmm... Oysters. - Pie

Both my wife and I live in the Seattle area and love it because it's only sunny 2-3 months out of the year. But man do we hate those 2 months...like now!
I grew up in Southwest Florida; my wife grew up in Las Vegas. That's probably why we love it so much here in the NW.

Wow, that's an extreme departure for both of you, in scenery and weather. From flat to vertical and tan to rust.
