Virtual Vocalist

Yamaha released it's new Vocaloid singing synthesis software this month, and has some samples you can listen to. It does a pretty good job, really. It makes you wonder how long it'll be before such synthesized voices are indistinguishable from the real thing.

We'll know we've hit a tipping point when an inventor creates a robot that can invent. Is it possible for us to invent ourselves into obsoleteness?
