Sharks in the streets!

"TWO bull sharks have been spotted swimming past the McDonald’s restaurant in Goodna."

Yet another reason to be scared of Australia.

Two all shark patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onion on a sesame seed bun.

Candygram.

But this:

Quote:
State Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller also backed Mr Bateman’s bull shark sighting.

“Steve wouldn’t lie about something like that. He’s very well known in the community.”

Thanks Pete. I actually don't live near that area, but some of my friends do. Another friend lives in an inner city area and her high set house was flooded to the floor boards. Lucky for her they were able to put most things up so they really only lost their washing machine.

It's been terrible what's happened, and on such a huge scale.

How much warning did various towns get before the flood arrived? Were flood crest estimates accurate?

Some areas knew what was coming and others didn't. It's so hard to explain what's happened, but basically it was due to the almost constant rain we had for the last couple of months. Some areas have just been watching their creeks and rivers rise, others were beset by a huge wall of water which almost washed away whole towns, but no matter which way your house floods, it's devastating, particularly if you're not covered by insurance. There have also been many lives lost which is heartbreaking.

All this is just in the small area where I live. This flooding is affecting the whole eastern half of the country. The personal burden is terrible, but on top of that, the financial burden for individuals, and industry (including tourism) will put a thousands people into bankruptcy.

Ali! Good to have you back.
My Uncle and cousin volunteered for cleanup duty and were posted to St Lucia. She said there were entire places wrecked there - the flood had gone through 40 people's homes.

In fact she posted some pics - I'll have to find them.

Glad you and yours are safe.

Sharks in da street
Sharks in da street
lookin' like a fool with you sharks in the street
With the fangs in their mouth
Their fins turned sideways
Call himself a cool fish
Lookin' like a fool
Swimmin' downbeat with your sharks in da street

One joke wasn't enough for you Shawnee? I guess it's ok to be all 'oh I'm so funny look at me' when others have lost everything.

Nice show of compassion there.

It's a parody of a song.

Levity isn't always evil. I had thought about posting about what little I know about flooding devastation except that my ex had a family reunion out of state that led us to stop at the St Louis Arch, pretty much right after it was open to the public again, after the great flood of 1993. I got to the top of the arch and looked around and saw how devastating it was, how it must be. It was quite a sight, like seeing the remnants of a house burnt down, only mega-multiplied, what little I know I know that it isn't funny. But I had hoped to inject some levity.

My sincerest apologies.
