She's very beautiful Cloud.

Don't push yourself, 3 months is not all that long to mourn for a pet. Give yourself time and one day you'll meet another cat and know its the one. Have you looked into pet grief counseling? I know the Texas SPCA has a program.

Thanks. The funny thing is, I have been talking to other residents of my apt complex, and not only have they lost cats, too . . . the cats on the property that are let outside have disappeared. We don't know if it's a mountain lion, a hoarder, or what. I'm on the point of mentioning it to the management.

"I'm a cat person." DUH!

Coyote is a possibility also. I try to keep them/him inside, but . . .

We had an outside cat that got shot by a neighbor. Crawled back home and we found her in our carport. It was really really sad. My family has always had bad experiences with outside cats. Run away, killed and injured too often. Dogs can be fenced in, I would never feel comfortable letting my cat out loose and without supervision. My g-ma lets hers out on a leash in a fenced in yard. They can't get out and not too much that's harmful can get in.
TBH, I don't know why its acceptable for cats to run loose and not for dogs.

Awhile back, Aliantha posted pictures of a big cage they had, so the cats could get some fresh air and survey the yard, out of harm's way.

My cats absolutely pine for the outside. I'd love to build a cat "run" that's easily accessible in and out, but I really can't do it in my apartment. I am considering a large standalone crate for exactly that purpose.

Leash-train them maybe? I've seen it done (ex: my gma's cats). Then maybe take 'em on long walks n such.

I do have a great cat harness, and I take em out occasionally. I wouldn't call it actually walking, tho

I don't know anything about this particular product, but I found it while searching...
might be worth looking into.

yes, I did try something similar, but it wasn't terribly useful. I think a large folding crate will be my next purchase.

I also got one of the laser inscribed pet tags with my email address, and put it on Miles' collar. Fucker got out last week when I was taking in the groceries, and didn't come back until 11 pm that night. I couldn't even contemplate how I would feel if he didn't come back at all.

Harley, Golden Retriever

Harley is pictured here around 1 year ago 2009. He was a "drop off" dog, meaning, people who are losing their homes, drive by, open the car door, and kick out their pet. We took him into our home, and at a Vet checkup, he only weighed 65 pounds. Last month, a year later, his weight is 75 pounds, and we've been told to give him more walks and put him on a diet.

Pictured here, is my lovely Thai wife, a newly naturalized U.S. citizen.

The picture of my dog Harley, does not clearly show how large he really is.

He has been well trained at some point. He loves women and children, and he is very protective. I've found, that when we have women and children at our house for a few days, he sleeps with them, and when I get up in the morning, I seem to startle him. He growls and barks at me, until he realizes it's just me. He never growls at women or children, only men it seems.
