July 20, 2010: Pine Tree Cozy

JasonMac73 posted this picture on Wunderground, of the South Holston Dam area, near Bristol, TN.

Mother Nature's little helpers, made a cozy for this Pine tree overhanging the water.

Bet it's real pretty, loaded with dew, when the sun comes up.

Wanna see someone walk on water? Let me look up to find myself under that monstrosity.

This is one of the first times I have said to myself, "So What". You people must live in a cellar. I must be strange, I "work" outside in the heat and cold. I see probably "ooo aahhh" things that never get photographed and I really think everyone has seen that. What would you like to see black widow spiders, dirt dobbers, yellow jackets, red wasps, rattlesnakes, copperheads, fire ants? Step away from your computers and go outside!

If you find a better image to use as the image of the day, please submit it.

It depends on what someone is expecting in a picture. jano was obviously looking for information... something new, different, maybe exciting. This image isn't about information, it's about composition. The delicate threads of the webs against the gnarly Pine, the sheen of the fisherman's wake against the misty brown water. Things most of us have seen, together in one picture, that JasonMac73 took the time and trouble to capture.

He took this picture too...

It's also very good, but I like the first picture better, and since I took the time and trouble to find and post it, it's my choice.

No.

I have a computer so I can look of pictures of the outside without actually having to go where there are spiders and bugs.

Heat AND cold? No thanks. I like it here in my cellar, which is musty and cool year-round.

I'm curious why you made the extra effort to put the word 'work' in quotation marks.
