April 19th, 2019: The Trees Have Eyes
The War to End All Wars, WW I, was brutal. In the history of warfare there were cannons and eventually rifles but Cavalry
and Infantry were the basics. But WW I brought real artillery, gas, and armored vehicles, which combined to level entire forests. With the cover blown away they dug trenches and played a game of attrition. When the Americans arrived the French just wanted to use them to fill for their casualties. The Americans said "Homie don’t play dat". Then Lieutenant General John Monash, of the Australian army said that mass attack shit don’t cut it, and taught the Americans “Combined Arms Warfare”. He said they could take all their objectives in 90 minutes but he was wrong... it took 93. Meanwhile the French and British were slugging it out in the pocked fields of mud. Quote:
Hello, this is Gunny Lee Ermey, build me a tree so we can sit in this trench for months. Quote:

More likely if they were going to come out of the trench, it would be en-mass, with a smoke or gas cover. link
