My all time favorites are Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. I drove my mother crazy demanding a 45 of that song. I also love the Snoopy vs. the Red Baron sequence (series of three parts, only part 3 ever gets radio play), and They're Coming to Take Me Away (now the hospital theme song ... at least three of us are using it as a ringtone).

Not technically a novelty song, but I love The Night Chicago Died by Paper Lace. And Carl Douglas, Kung Fu Fighting.

I listened to a lot of Dr. Demento while in high school and early college (until the local affiliate dropped his show), so you might as well throw in everything he played in the late 70s - early 80s.

At the summer camp I went to, the songs were mainly led by the older couple that owned and ran the place. Thus, I know lots of 60s novelty songs (like "Purple People Eater" and "The Billboard Song") but also quite a lot of old military songs ("The Caissons Go Rolling Along," "From the Halls of Montezuma...", "Battle of New Orleans" etc.)

McDonalds is my kind of place
hamburgers in your face
french fries between your toes
dill pickles up your nose
ketchup's running down my back
I want my money back - before I have a heart attack!

I still like the song about "The Lorax."...It's on the old video. ("Dr. Seuss")

Like everyone else, I knew the old standby:
Jingle Bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
The Batmobile lost a wheel
And the Joker danced ballet.

But my 5 year old son taught me this version last Fall:

Dashing through the snow,
On a pair of broken skis,
O'er the hills I go,
Smashing into trees (ow ow ow)
The snow it turning red
I think I'm almost dead
Now I'm in the hospital
With stitches in my head

Oh, 9-1-1, 9-1-1
Sirens all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In an ambulance all day.

That's a keeper!

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with blood,
I shot my poor teacher
With a .44 slug.

I went to the casket
I went to the grave.
Some people threw flowers,
I threw a grenade.

I opened the casket,
She wasn't quite dead.
I got a bazooka
And blew off her head.

Shit, I'm not sure I even know how the real version goes.

Speaking of other things that a child should never experience... Anyone else here ever gotten stuck on that "It's a Small World" ride at Disney World for 45 minutes? Like right when you're supposed to be turning the corner so you're hearing animatronic children sing it to you in BOTH Spanish and fucking Mandarin Chinese? :shudders:

OH MY GOD.... I'm pretty sure that if I'm ever murdered, for some inexplicable reason, it WILL be "It's A Small World" playing in the background. Either that or "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. Both those songs creep me out for some bizarre reason.
