June 3, 2008: Eagle attacks swan

At a lake just outside of Terrace, B.C..

The swan gets away in the end by landing in the lake below and paddling about. No mans land for that type eagle.

I think the Eagle was just feeling a little frisky and wanted to join the "Mile high" club...

This addresses that question, "what do you do when find an endangered species eating an endangered plant?"

Granted, the swan is not an endangered plant, and the eagle is off the endangered list . . . but still, two admired birds fighting - you don't want to root for either one to win!

Eagle attacks swan
Hunger drives him to kill for food
The swan glides on

Although the sequence was shot in British Columbia, it symbolizes how
NFL Hall-of-Famer Lynn Swann, wide receiver on the Pittsburgh Steelers teams that won four Super Bowls in six years,
was shot down in the 2006 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election
by Eagles fans voting for incumbent Ed Rendell, former mayor of Philadelphia.

.

Swann snags 53-yard Terry Bradshaw pass over Dallas defender
in 21-17 Steeler victory in Super Bowl X, 1976 in Miami.
It was over the Cowboys--what's not for an Eagles fan to love?

What would go well with roast eagle with a swan stuffing?

Would any connoisseurs like to recommend a wine? or a whine?

In late winter we have eagles eating all kinds of birds. They eat ducks, seagulls.....whatever they can get their claws on.

They are happy eating our throwaway fish this time of year.
