http://pressconnects.com/apps/pbcs.d...r NYRI meeting

BINGHAMTON -- Members of the crowd demanded answers, and they wanted them now.

New York Regional Interconnect Project Manager William May provided responses, but the shouts from the crowd indicted that he did little to satisfactorily address many of the questions and concerns of those who attended Wednesday night's meeting at American Legion Post 80 in Binghamton. The meeting was held to discuss NYRI's proposed power line, which would cut through Broome and Chenango counties.

What May called a "public-information meeting" from 7 to 9 p.m. began with an approximately 15-minute presentation by May that Suzanne Holwittof the Town of Chenango called public relations "gobble-de-gook."

This little nightmare is proposed to dip into PA. Let's see if our new law has any teeth. According to the thieves website the preferred route runs East of us but the other route looks like it goes right through us. It is way past time to decentralize power in this country.

Kelo v. New London

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/010822.php

The right of local government to kick you out for the sake of economic development has already been contested. The government won.

What is sad is that in this case, the power company lacks the balls to be up front and tell people exactly what is happening. At the end of the day, they will put their power lines exactly where they want to. Looks like they didn't pick a PR company with the necessary experience in the field of compulsory development. Rather than hamfistedly trying to sidestep the affected parties, the usual procedure is to tell them the truth and suffer the protests until the victims realise the futility of their arguments.NOBODY WANTS POWER LINES IN THEIR BACK YARD, BUT EVERYONE WANTS POWER.

They haven't released the secondary route map that looks like my area but it does not look good.

This is a weird case because it is a NY company potentially trying to run their lines through rural PA to NY. If it were local gov it wouldn't be a problem. We can handle our locals. Let the letter writing begin.

I should think the PA politicians would be in a "can't lose" position, if they oppose this. That doesn't happen often.

They can lose some corporate campaign donations. They have to decide whether that cash can be used to erase enough memory.

That's what I'm hoping for, a little PA "patriotism".

Maybe, as insurance, we should raise a militia.
It's our constitutional right.
