Whoa, 64 inches wide doesn't fit my 24 inch screen.
What are you, a travel agent? Tour guide?

Hi annterena,
I deleted the link to the travel agency because it seemed pretty spammy. I should ban you, because I think you're a spammer, but I'm going to hold off for now. If you want to explain why you think Kerala is a worthwhile place to visit, you could always try talking about it. One of those images (the freaking enormous one) looks an awful lot like the scenery in the Appalachian mountains of the southern US. The oak leaves and granite outcropping especially. The rest of the images look like they could be India for all I know, but that one looks like it doesn't fit. Last edited by glatt; 11-15-2019 at 07:23 AM. |

Yes. I found it. It's Hawksbill in Shenandoah National Park. It looked familiar because that's the kind of forest we have 2 hours from me. I should go hiking here. It looks nice.
See this image. |

That link to the Shenandoah National Park makes me wonder how/why the mountains got named?

My 17 yo son is a little annoyed with the wife and I. He wants to go hiking and camping at Old Rag tomorrow, and we gave him a preliminary "no way!"
It's a beautiful area, and I know he would have a blast if he went. But he wants to go with some kid we don't know and have never met, don't know their parents, don't know the skill level or attitude of that kid. Plus my son has already promised to help out on a service project tomorrow for another kid, so he would be breaking his word to that kid. And it's supposed to be cold in the mountains tomorrow, and he hasn't planned anything about where he would camp, what he would pack or eat, what gear to bring, where they would park, etc. etc. So he's going to pitch it to us again tonight, and if his plan is very concrete and makes sense, we might let him go. He'd still be breaking a promise to help this other kid, but there are lots of other volunteers. So anyway, yeah. We've been talking about Old Rag a lot this week. |

And I hear that the boy has dropped the idea! Who hoo! Looks like it will be a pleasant night.
I’m sure he would enjoy the naked girl thing though. |

The oak leaves were conspicuously suspicious. Caught my attention immediately.

phew. Been there done that, isn't pleasant, but we always went with "keep your word" -most especially for anything last minute. Glad he figured it out and did good, I blame the parents

glatt is happy he didn't have the lock the boy in the dungeon for a weekend of bread and water, with nothing to do but count Jerusalem Crickets.

So I ended up helping out on that service project that he had committed to, and it was actually a lot of fun. Working on trails on a beautiful fall day. And then because it was obvious he wanted to be outside, I offered to take him camping and we drove out to the mountains to camp for the night. It was a great time.
