If I owned a Scanjet (I use an Epson), I would love to know how to do that. I would imagine it would be fun to do that with the office scanner if it sits in the middle of the office.

You have touched me, xoB. More specifically, you have touched my inner pyromaniac. OMG. I am going to be in so much trouble. Thanks. I think.

V, read the comments over in Boing Boing before you try this. Some people have burned themselves trying to recreate what they saw in the video.

It would seem that the key is not to oversoak the ball, as mentioned in the video. But there's obviously some technique to it.

There's a similar trick where you dip your hand in water first, then rubbing alcohol (which burns at a low temperature,) and you can set your own arm on fire for a short time with no ill effects. I have since seen video of it through the wonders of the internet, but the idea's been around forever: back in high school, we had to do a project where we acted out a video of a Greek or Roman myth. A classmate decided to use this trick in his group's video of Prometheus. Except he screwed it up somehow, and instead ran around screaming for several seconds before managing to put it out. I know this because they kept the footage in their final project, hoping for pity points from the teacher. (It didn't work.)

OK, enjoy... but don't blame me if you feel pain, after lighting your balls on fire.
