Kings

Although sadly not picked up for a second season, NBC's Kings retells the story of the Biblical David. Set in a "parellel universe" to our own, Kings is set in the Kingdom of Gilboa, who is at war with it's northern neighbor, Gath.

The acting is first rate (Ian McShane of HBO's Deadwood stars as King Silas), and the plot is gripping. Yes, we know how it ends (much like HBO's Rome) but it's the way the producers/directors take us to that end that is fantastic.

The full season can be viewed on Hulu, and those of us who love the show are trying to get people to watch it on Hulu, in the hopes that NBC will understand that it's their crappy promotion of the show and changing timeslots that killed Kings' ratings.

Watch it, tell me what you think.

That sounds really intriguing. I shall see if I can find it anywhere. Alas Hulu hasn't yet reached our shores, so I shall have to go mauling about the torrentsphere

I really liked it. Usually a signal of doom for any show. Somehow Dollhouse survived it, though.

Fuck.

I carry a similar curse. If someone becomes really great in sports and I cotton on to them and become interested, that's when they're truly fucked. Boxers who've never tasted the mat fall hard if I tune in. My best friend has begged me not to watch any more Man Utd matches.

Seems odd to "tell the story of the Biblical kings" -- then set it in a parallel universe.
