Gamer kidnapped, tortured for password

Quote:
Gang kidnaps top RPG player

Tortures him for his password

By Nick Farrell: Monday 23 July 2007, 07:36

AN ARMED gang of four kidnapped one of the world's top RPG gamers and psychologically tortured him for five hours to get his passwords.
According to Gizmodo, the gang used one of their girlfriend's as a honey trap to entice the bloke who is apparently a world leader in the game Gun Bound.

After he turned up in a shopping centre in Sao Paulo expecting a date with a real life girl, the player found the gang led by a bloke called Igor and he was kidnapped. Apparently the plan was to sell the password for $8,000. After five hours they could not break the will of the hostage who apparently would rather risk death than hand over his passwords.

In the end they let him go. The Brazilian police then caught the four suspects, aged 19 to 27.
People -- be careful where you buy your passwords

Day-um! Somebody is taking their gaming a touch too seriously.

How much do you want to bet his passwords were easily guessed (like a birthday) anyhow?

Damn that's just crazy. I used to play that game a couple years ago.. people were wayyy too hardcore about it. The game is like second life in that you can use you own cash to buy points in the game and buy upgrades and stuff. So the guy probably has a good sum of $$ invested in there.

Hmmm, 'psychologically tortured', like making him play an Atari 2600 with a broken controller?

Or playing a game that requires the paddles with a joystick.
