Or food service. It's a big rolling pin for rolling out the dough for frozen pizzas.

Well, i will go with what I thought it was the moment I saw it, which is probably wrong, but it looks like a table leg.

With it being refined to very specific tolerances I believe it has to be for some kind of industrial use.

This is the simplest of objects. It is a 1 1/8"x22" keyed stainless steel shaft. I got it at the local second hand marine shop, Second Wave. I love this place. As you can see, I paid a small price for it. You may compare the price *per foot* at this site for reference. It weighs a little over six pounds. I reckon it was.. hell. I don't know. It was cut short when I bought it. I wonder if it was a propshaft.... maybe not. (Steering) Wheel shaft, sure could be. There's a round shallow hole opposite the keyway where a setscrew would secure the hub of whatever the hell it was.

It is a lovely piece of metal.

Um.

*Technically*, you're right.

Fine, no one will provide the answer I want.

It is the base of a little Christmas Tree of Devil Duckies. I made it as a gift for a friend (her daughter actually). I learned that she likes Devil Duckies. .... I couldn't help myself, friends. You know me.

Dude.
I seriously considered the "fucking" part, but while it transmuted the "hard as a steel bar" hyperbole into reality, I haven't found a willing partner (yet). The proportions are within the design tolerances, but it is cold. Plus, I don't have the milling tools or expertise to shape it into something less... industrial.

Dude.

I pick up stuff like this all the time, when I don't quite know what the ultimate use will be. But I do know that whatever it is that I produce that needs this shaft, nothing else would do. This isn't something I could improvise.
