Faux can shove it. In theory, men average a 30 gram heavier brain than a woman. To take this argument to reductio absurdium, the 'big brained' members of our species have discovered and engaged in war; beat the kids and the little woman because there wasn't enough saber toothed tiger for dinner tonight. On a grander scale, they also have brought us 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. And on, and on /off rant.

If I was going to be something big brained, I'd be the sperm whale craftily creating a program to rid the world of humans - pronto! Don't show us any mercy guys - we never showed an iota to you.

So what? The whale thing proves bigger is not necessarily better. Women's brains are wired differently, operate differently, than men's.

As for your sexist diatribe, the women who have been in power don't have exactly a stirling record. Absolute power corrupts... everyone.:p

The whole thing is a little hard to believe, since humans have been growing progressively larger over the Milena. Our heads got bigger while our brains got smaller? What's taking up the extra space?

It's not the size of the brain, it's the size of the brain in relation to the size of the body, and the surface area of the brain. Sperm whales have big brains, but not enough brain power to defend themselves against a smaller, smarter predator. We may be getting more convolutions, which would mean more brain power in less space.

No, the article says human brains have shrunk 150cc (10%) in 5000 years. That means 5k years ago, everybody looked like Charlie Brown?

I prefer the "conservation of matter" explanation: every time someone loses brain matter, another one of us gains it.

That sounds scarey like skin walkers or brujas or something. Or maybe a giant virus. Like a virus has entered your brain right now and its got your cells replicating the virus' cells until one day your head explodes like a pinata sending virus cells everywhere!

Clod -- that's right, the collective IQ of the planet is constant. That's why population growth is such a problem.
