Previews can be annoying but....

Movie Goes sues over previews

Is this really necessary? My god don't people have more things to worry about the movie previews. Personally I think previews should continue they give you the ability to walk into the theatre 5 minutes late and not miss the start of your movie. Hell I went to see Daredevil Wednesday night and I have to say that the previews were more entertaining then the actual movie.

Yeah well, some people need a live. I personally like previews, but I can't stand commercials for non-movie products. (I realize this position is somewhat self-contradictory, but "coming attractions" are a tradition.)

Another movie pet peeve is that the showing of all those ads and trivia questions and such requires them to put the lights down, making it harder to find a seat or to find the people you went to the movie with if you go in separately for some reason. I'd prefer to have the lights up until they roll the previews.

Movie Previews

The press liked to trump this up a bit. The woman is suing over the advertisements, and not the previews.

I agree, if the movie starts at 7pm and you have to sit through five minutes of ads, thats just wrong. I'm paying to see a movie, and now I'm also paying to watch advertisements. I can do that at home for free.

True commercials are annoying, I guess I usually find the commercials before movies to be cool, at least in comparison to the ones on TV. I guess if the commercials bother you that much you should just wait until the movie comes out on DVD and rent or buy it then, or else just show up 4 or 5 minutes late.

Truely if the theatres should be sued over anything it's concession prices, you can't afford to have popcorn with your movie anymore.

They don't bother me enough to sue or anything like that. Just venting.

I agree, popcorn, etc prices are nuts. Anyone else here love the taste of m&ms and popcorn? Mmm.. yeah. Good stuff.

I loathe the 'buy from $foo_local_company!' ads. I love the previews.

The difference, really, is where the proceeds go. The theater shouldn't be making money selling ad space that they charge me to see. At the very least, they should be entertaining ads. Around here, it's this same disinteresting monotone voice reading copy while we're bombarded with the logo/phone number of local corporations.

Previews are an important part of the moviegoing experience. I LOVE watching trailers. I actually consider myself late to a movie if i miss 'em ... not as grave a sin as sitting down after the credits start, but it's way up there.

I agree snack prices are outrageous. I hit the WaWa on the way and carry a large purse ... I will buy overpriced movie theater popcorn because it's an important part of the experience, but I'm not paying $3 for a half-dollar's worth of Twizzlers. Screw that.

Previews good. Ads for automobiles, cellular phone service, feminine hygiene products, soft drinks, etc not good. And I've seen all of those at the movies.

OK, except the femine hygiene products. But pretty soon the chick flicks will start having those too, mark my words.

I don't mind previews, they're fine. It's useful to be able to get in 10 mnis late anyway but ads are liek ads on cable TV - i don't expect to cop ads as well as paying for the service.
I don't have cable TV. On the other hand we have good free to air tv here.
