Typosquatting

From Wiki
Quote:
Typosquatting, also called URL hijacking, is a form of cybersquatting which relies on mistakes such as typographical errors made by Internet users when inputting a website address into a web browser. Should a user accidentally enter an incorrect website address, they may be led to an alternative website owned by a cybersquatter.
There's a site that watches this... http://typosquat24.com/

Squat popularity factor?

That's how restaurants should be rated...

As my work website has an org.uk address I occasionally try that for the Cellar. It comes up with a single page which reads, It Works!

The might of the Cellar is random.

So that's what that is called. I've mis-entered website addresses before and I end up on a different site: they all look very much alike. For what purpose, I wonder?

Whitehouse.com used to go to a strip club, now it goes to a political poll/interview thing.

Ah, but they are! The higher the squat factor, the lower the score from the local health inspector.
