But the scholars went for Gallic (as per French) all the way through. I admit I missed the beginning, but is this a new thing? Like Tutankhamun, Urunas, Boudicca etc?

to be ffaie ... the (Scots) Gaelic language is referred to as "the Gallic" as far as I know. As to the wider cultural reference, I dunno!
