Not in any of the major cities in Texas... In some rural counties they must classify them specifically as "marital aids," but you don't have to prove you're married to buy them or anything.

Actually, Libertarians protect the rights of libertines and Jesus freaks alike by simply taking the position that what you do in your home is your own business.

The law does bring up some interesting questions. Is there an exclusion for penile implants? If not, does the law violate the American with Disabilities act?

What about transport across the state? Let's say I have a handgun registered in PA and am travelling across Mississippi. Am I supposed to keep the gun and the sex toy locked in the trunk to prove that I don't intend to use either one?

Of course, at a guess, I'd say that it being Mississippi, I probably have the right to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and another on an Uzi.

As long as you don't drive with one hand on your peepee, you're pretty much okay with whatever.

There is a joke in there somewhere. I'm certain of it.

That is perfect tagline material.

Well, it all balances out in the end, doesn't it? Mississippi's laws encourage people to bang each other, not mechanical devises. The resulting excess population can then be disposed of with a bang.

Quite logical, actually.

Look at it this way. God hates sex. People are (gasp!) produced by the act of sex. Therefore, God must hate people, as well. God fearing Mississipians are merely carrying out God's will with their liberal gun policy.

Banging is bad, I mean GOOD!

Will they be banning cucumbers next?

Maybe they'll just keep them behind the counter so you have to ask for them

Good Historical Perspective in Today's Inquirer

Good vibes: A hysterical perspective on sex toys

Quote:
According to Cornell University researcher Rachel Maines, the first vibrator was invented in 1883 as a medical device. Doctors used it to give their patients "pelvic massages" to produce "hysterical paroxysm" as a cure for a disease they called hysteria. The device was designed to mechanize a job that doctors had been doing - believe it or not - by hand.
Maines chronicled her findings in the 1999 book The Technology of Orgasm. The real bombshell, she said, was that doctors had been giving women orgasms as a so-called medical treatment since the time of Hippocrates.
By the late 19th century, hysteria was hitting epidemic proportions, with women complaining of paralyzed limbs, sudden inability to speak, and other bizarre symptoms magically relieved by their doctor's touch.
But some doctors complained the technique was difficult to learn. According to one biographer, Sigmund Freud tried to learn it, Maines says, but never got the hang of it.
Vibrators made the job much easier, though some early ones ran on steam, she says, requiring the doctors to shovel in coal. They often had cumbersome but impressive power sources, and the business end looked like a ball or some other non-phallic shape.
Ok, steam powered vibrators? I'm not sure I believe that. I'd sure like to see a picture of one in the Doodads thread. Maybe Bruce or Buster can find one amongst the antiques in the garage/shed/barn.

Never mind, I found this link with a history of sex toys and a picture of a steam powered vibrator.

Anyway, I guess when sex toys become outlawed agains, doctors will have to step back in.

Vermont kind of busts that paradigm. They've got the right kind of gun laws -- no-permit concealed carry, for instance.
