Oh look, it's that dude who confuses me in threads by being referred to by my same initials. Welcome back, CF!

Glad to see you cyclefrance, I was wondering what happened with the shipping business with this global meltdown, and what the scoop is with dealing with pirates, from your end?

Hi Bruce - I'm working in the bulk vegoil sector now. We lost a couple of ships to pirates last year. Both were relaeased after about 3 months of negotiations with all crew intact and unharmed - not sure of the settlement figure, but with ships running out of fueloil bunkers, the cargoes on board were not heated and so discharge capability and quality were both compromised. One, the Biscaglia went on to do business for one of our clients, and the other begative of this episode, namely fouling of the hull underside by marine growth. The vessel went from being a 13 knots steamer downto 8.5 knots. The ship subsequently dry-docked for bottom cleaning and is now back in good service. Interesting report available here (you may have seen this site already).

Thanks Sky - nice to be back. Will try to keep you all confused with our inimitable British sense of humour and the unncessary inclusion of the letter 'u' in words wherever possible.

OK - well, at least from my side I can go for straight 'Clods' if you like - or perhaps that should be 'don't mind'!

I cannot ignore the warning signs. I need to see a doctor, but can't afford it right now, so I'm strategizing lifestyle approaches.

It really has nothing to do with Bruce or Monster or the other people here who have been stressing me out. (It just seems that way, but I know better). I'm going to try to absent myself for a while; being on the Cellar and other web sites is hurting me, not helping. For those who support me, thank you, and keep your fingers crossed.

if you have a problem with someone, take them on straight out. don't come at them sideways.

sorry you're feeling down, but it doesn't excuse that shit.

Then spex, I assume you haven't seen this thread -- she's back. It seemed to be rather unkind to dredge all that up.

Hi Griff - hoping to get to the Normandy beaches this year - tried to organise it last year, but the place was crawling with Presidents and Prime Ministers so all the guest houses put their rates up!
